Pettigrew

You don't think Linehan ignored Durham???

Wow.....you don't watch the games, do you?

EVERYONE ignored Durham.

Stafford

Linehan

DB's

GM's

His dog.

......

Durham had like 80 targets. Do you even watch the games?

No it's not dumb to judge this soon. Maybe in 1970 it was. But with the lifespan of today's player, and the immediate impact that a lot of rookies have, it's silly to not acknowledge that he stunk as a rookie and that there are some concerns about him.

Rookie TE. It's very very dumb. Especially after an 11-5 season.

So can we judge other players who excelled in their first year? Or is it just Detroit Lions players who stunk that get a free pass?

I wouldn't judge OBJ and Donald yet either. Not so fast my friend. Nobody gets judged.

There is a reason you can't make a new deal with a drafted player until after 2 years.

This is because when Stafford over threw everyone they just gave the target to Durham because he was the tallest one out there.

But yet when talking roster makeup/cap position, you expect contribution from rookies year one.

So you expect them to contribute before the season, but after the season the theory is...Well you can expect them to contribute in their 1st year? Which one is it?

Ebron did contribute. Depends on the position. TE you expect more in year 2 and 3. Swanson you expect year 2 with more bulk at his correct positiion at center. Van Noy healthy. You also expect improvement from the low bar set.

Lions are a good team without rookies. They proved that in 2014. They will prove that again in 2015. Any rookie contribution will be icing on the cake.

He contributed as much as any free agent TE would have had they been given the opportunity. He failed his first year. End of conversation.

11-5. Maybe it wasn't a fail 14 first downs and a TD (in a 7 point win). Some good blocking comes to mind too. blocking on Tate TD against the Vikings (6 point win).

And in the 294 routes, I gurantee there were some routes where someone went to cover Ebron and allowed someone else to get open.

Not a fail. TBD.

The overall record has nothing to do with Eric Ebron.

Did OBJ fail because the Giants went 6-10?

Yes. He was terrible. If he were any good the Giants would have won 11 games!!!

Every teams record is a direct reflection of their 1st round pick!

Can not agree more. Our Five best 1st round draft picks over the past 20 years are:

1) Eric Ebron (2014)
2) Nick Fairly (2011)
3) Luther Ellis (1995)
4) Stockar McDougle (2000)
5) Bryant Westbrook (1997)

This makes Gosder Cherilus the single worst draft pick ever in the history of the NFL.

It just proves rookies don't matter much until year 2. If you have a good team, which the Lions do, you win no matter what rookie you pick. Which proves me right.

LKP strikes again.

I'd like to see how many other franchises have had two ENTIRE draft classes in the last five years completely vanish. That's almost impossible.

Then why did you justify the Ebron pick by saying 11-5...if rookies don't matter?

LKP the Contradiction King strikes again.

That would be an interesting study, draft pick retention, team success, and individual success...How each front office ranks with all those things considered. I'd do it but I really don't want to track the careers of 1500+ picks.

That said, I heard some stat the other day something about how Peppers is the only starter or player on GB that has played for another team. Not sure how true that is.

Ebron wasn't a fail. You can't be a fail if you don't matter. Year 2 and 3 is when you actually judge.

Only morons judge Ebron now.

Yeah, GB has a front office that knows how to draft and develop talent they sign.
