Playoffs

Imo no Tate is a knock against Matt Stafford. He saved Matt's ass so much and his run after the catch made Matt look like a better QB that he actually was.

He had a purpose on this team. Every qb in the NFL has a receiver that saves his ass, and is their go to guy. It's like you want Stafford with nobody presentable out there. Tate was Stafford's only consistent guy since CJ left, how do you overlook that?

Ansah is always hurt, and when he does play, he's inconsistent at best.

Every team has injuries, some a little more than others. The Redskins lost their first and second string QBs to broken legs and still won this week.

The Lions don't have much talent on the team. They only have one "difference maker" on the team (Slay). I really don't think they will be a SB contender while Stafford is on the roster unless they get REALLY lucky in the draft and in FA. I'm talking hitting on 90% of the draft picks over the next 3 seasons. Hell, I might take it a little further. They won't win a playoff game while Stafford is the QB. I'm not putting it all on him either...it's the entire team around him that sucks.

I agree, this team won't even win a playoff game with Stafford and part of that is because Quinn won't get the pieces needed and Patricia isn't a very good coach.

I want him to move the ball all over the field. I'm not saying don't throw to Tate but once he was gone the other guys outside of Golladay were useless, just like before Tate was traded.

It's like Ebron he was useless here in the red zone but once he was in Indy he became an option.

Bottom line Tate or not we weren't making it to the playoffs.

He's basically eli manning without the commercials, cool brother, post season wins, super bowls, manningham sideline catch, tyree catch....etc etc etc.

I use to bitch all the time about him not even being on the field in the red zone. Hard to be a red zone threat when the coach takes you off the field in the red zone. He was just utilized poorly here.

But even further than that he's been good some years but 6 out of 10 years he's been average or worse.

I'm looking at his total body of work. Most QBs / players have ups and downs. He's no different. Stafford defenders look at his best years and say he's a top 5 QB. Stafford haters look at his worst years and say he sucks. I'm looking at all of them and I think he is in the above average to good range.

He was second on the team in Red Zone targets.

But he has more down years than good years. Has he had nice games in his bad years, sure. Same can be said about bad games in his better years. His full body of work imo says at max he's solid but not top 5-6.

I remember one game Ebron dropped/missed 3 in the end zone in one game. He had many others. I could certainly understand not wanting to throw to him after that.

agreed. I said the defenders will put him top 5 based on his best years. I would not.

his good years his qbr is still low. over time that number is due to 1) no threat of a run 2) horrible pocket presence 3) hes worse in the red zone 4) his yards per pass is low. Hes a top 12ish guy. Can win with that...but he doesnt deserve to be among the highest paid at the position and that hurts your ability to build around you.

How dare you!!! Calling Tate a safety blanket?!?! Don't you know that #9 is supposed to do it throwing to no names?!?! God forbid that our QB can have legit weapons to throw to lol

1. His time was up. QBs get paid....
2. His contract does not hurt this team. Stop making shit up. 40+MIL with a chance of 60+MIL in cap money. Tell me again how Stafford's contract is financially crippling this team for free agents again. They got money - spend it fucking wisely....

Top 5??? Meeeeehhhh. Not quite. He was a top 6-7 QB in the NFL until this yr. And when I say top 6-7, I mean 6th or 7th BEST QB in the league. He's having a horrible yr this yr tho but he's still a good QB....

Vikings missing shitty lg in Easton, rookie cb and average at best strong safety in sendejo who doesn’t matter. Maybe Kendricks. So almost nobody

Lions missing Ansah and Hand. Maybe Snacks. Huge for all 3. Maybe Agnew still at nickel

Then on offense Marvin Jones, Kerryon Johnson, Tate by choice, TJ Lang, Michael Roberts, maybe Wagner and Ellington. Stafford hurting back too

It’s crazy difference in injuries.
