I'd take a team full of Manny, Bonds, Sheffield, Pudge, Clemens, Zambrano types any day of the week if they played like those cats. I watch the game to see my team win and to see the best athletes, not to see a lot of great guys who hustle and lose.

Which one of these does not belong?

BONDS SHEFFIELD PUDGE CLEMENS MANNY
..................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................... ............................................................ carlos zambrono
He's not on par with those guys talent-wise, but he's still had a very solid career. He's got a 3.6 career ERA (after posting a 4.82 ERA this year) and he's 44 games over .500 on a team that's been below .500 during his tenure there. He's widely regarded as a bad teammate and clubhouse cancer, but I'd take him on my team on talent alone. That's all I was getting at with that example.

The difference is I would take all of those other guy attitudes included...If Zambrano complains about the clubhouse meal I don't want him on my team. His skills are no where near good enough to overcome the attitude in the way the other guys are.

Whispers around league sources is that Reyes to the Marlins is almost a done deal

Tigers manager Jim Leyland told Jim Bowden on MLB Network Radio that, while he loves Jose Reyes, "I don't think we're going to shop at that store."

Not according to MLB on XM. They said the offer was 6yrs for $90mil and Reyes wouldn't accept that. They were saying that most in opposing front offices believe that the Marlins won't get any of the big name free agents they are attempting to court.

Dombrowski said he like Reyes a lot but that it's unlikely we'll make a move that big. I wouldn't rule out a Mike Ilitch intervention, but it seems unlikely.

Jon Heyman is reporting that he believes the Tigers could make a late run at Reyes and a league exec. has said that the Tigers are "great poker players" not earth shattering but something to keep an eye on. If Reyes is going to go for the price advertised i hope we get involved

The MLB on XM guys said that Reyes' agent is gonna give the Mets last shot to match an offer. The followed that up by saying how that's stupid business on the agent's part and how that would piss lots of people off. They also said the Tigers are lurking on Reyes.

Looks like I was wrong.

If the Tigers sign Reyes I am fine with it. He will be over priced but I would rather have Reyes than Aramis Ramirez. If Ramirez is signed I could see it being a huge disaster

With Reyes injury history, I don't want him. Spend the cash elsewhere.

I know where your comming from - but the free agent market kinda sucks this year. I am sure JL would rest Reyes quite a bit if he had him.

Reyes would fill a huge hole in the leadoff position - also we let Peralta go after the 2012 season with out hesitation

Like on Cepesdes? I mean i want him as much as the next guy but please, why would you pay stupid money for a guy who probably isn't 26 and is completely unproven over a guy who just won the freaking batting title? Reyes injury history is scary but when he is healthy he is one of the best in the game and gives us speed and infield defense instantly

Yeah for about 90-130 games.. this cat is to injury prone to take a gamble on...

Take out 2009 and he's averaging 150 games a year since '05. That's like saying Peyton Manning is injury prone. And honestly 130 games is okay with me. Big time help at a huge need position.
