I don't think you can look at it that way. You have to compare the talent to other teams in the playoffs not a weakened division. Hou with the first pick is the ideal situation for any coach, any coach coming here is stuck with stafford.

Are we as talented as other playoff teams then? Not from our crappy division. We got pasted by the Eagles and lost to the Cards...I won't compare us to SF NO CAR SEA

I'm neutral on Mayhew

Don't really care if he stays or goes

IMO his successful picks and trades are somewhat negated by top 3 round players who have failed to live up to their draft position (or are completely out of the NFL). This team has some very talented players, but also lack quality depth at several positions.

You can add signing bell as a positive, guy has been good. on the neg you should combine the Best Leshoure with the picks, unless your talking opportunity cost but you could go that with any pick that didn't turn out. Considering what we gave up and the years of service houston has been a positive (even with the crappy play this year).

Completely forgot about Joique, thanks

I was a bit torn on where to put the Houston trade, they got him cheap, and prior to this year he was a positive

Here's what I'll do

Houston trade was a positive
Houston re-signing is TBD

Best and young was a 2011 positive. Beyond that negative. Stafford and suh are positives. Could have easily missed with what many others wanted. Delmas and pettigrew and burleson positive too

Signing glover Quinn positive. Jason jones negative so far

I see Stafford and Suh as no brainers, at the time I think any competent GM would've made those picks in that situation.

I loved the Pettigrew pick but I think the jury is still out, especially a #20 pick. I'm not completely sold on Delmas, with a mix of injuries and mediocre play at times (I hate missile tackling), I don't know if he's lived up to his draft position.

I do wonder what this D-line could've done with a healthy Jones.

I still think to get full value from our dline we need to blitz more in 2014.

The thing is, we have quite a few young CBs on this roster. Do we take the gamble and draft another one? Or wait for them to develop and look to FA to fill holes in the mean time?

I can't remember where I saw it and I could be wrong, but don't CBs have as high of a bust rate as WRs?

If you have a chance to get a top CB you take it, you can get just about any position late in the draft but CB is the position where it doesn't happen as often. They are the smallest guys on the field so they tend to get hurt so you can never have to many, especially these days with it being a throwing league.

If he can't draft, can't get FA's, how did he manage to get a playoff talent team? Maybe we should start calling him Mayhew the magician.

Mayhew's made some mistakes but he has also done some nice things. If they fire him they better get someone that is proven to be better, none of this potential crap.

have you heard of matt Flynn or josh mccown.....if not I can shed some light on the caliber of qbs that led their teams to better records than the lions in our division.....if youd like. Yes we should have made the playoffs this year.....no.....we do not have a perennial playoff contending team.

negatives you can add:

Wasting 2 picks on whitehead...including a high value 4th
Gym SHorts
Gunther Cunningham
Scott linehan
Driving up the price on avril
Dwill
Spievey
Paying Burleson and kvb too much money to sit around and do nothing
Gym Shorts
Youtube

and why was trading redding and a draft pick a positive to get an overpriced Peterson who didn't do jack here? Redding is still playing to this day....and playing well. Move that to negative.

Why do you keep saying we used 2 picks on whitehead? We used a 4th on him.
