Stafford Extension to be done today

Bush will be great in our offense.

Warford wont make up for Raoilas shortcommings.

Reiff needs to be at RT and we need a stud LT.

Need an upgrade at #2 WR and TE. Pettigrew drops dont bother me as much as the fact he can only run 1 route then falls down after 6 yards. Burleson is done. Broyles is fine as a #3/slot type....if he ever stay on the field.

I agree with the Bush assessment.

How do you know Warford isnt a Godsend? He may help out huge..

Reiff was drafted to replace Backus. Why all of a sudden is he a RT?

Pettigrew with all his drops and fumbles has been a top 10 TE in this leagues. Hes athletic for a big man and has done a fine job. Not everyone is Graham or Gronk...cmon.

Burleson done? Says who...you? Reports are hes way ahead of schedule and is nice welcome back to this offense. He's not even close to being done.

Cant wait for Broyles to shine so you shut your mouth on the kid.

Hasnt Fuller the rookie been getting some chatter as well? Skies the limit with this offense. Health is key...

In no particular order

Brady
Manning
Brees
Rodgers
Ryan
Flacco
Romo
Ben
Schaub
Rivers
Eli

Guys I would rather have but still unproven

Luck
Wilson
Capernick
Griffin (although injury concern)
Dalton (only because of salary)

lmfao...

Great list, bud!! I see you threw in a couple first ballot HOFers. Brilliant!! ;)

Then you forgot to mention that all these QBs at one time or another had stud RBs, WRs or TEs. Just like your brilliant comment, 'He (Stafford) has Megatron'....remember? Your words!

Not to mention some of the defenses your magical list of QBs had backing them up. lol.

Staff has had dogshit compared to some of these guys. You've been schooled.

we have the same weapons at wr/te

interior pressure will still be there cause raoila is still here.

So Thomas, Durham, what's his face and Robiskie will be playing as much as they did last season? Oh, and titus. I get it but don't say they have the same guys.

He also needs to stop being such a puss in the pocket and learn how to step up and fire the ball. The director from Happy Feet called and wants his dance back.

Hard to step up with a trash can rolling around at your feet. Hope this is the last year of that.

of course not...it is always someone elses fault! I never said he sucks....he is just average to above average.

Yeah, why would it be the receivers fault that they run shitty routes, the wrong routes, or that they cant catch the ball?

How have I been schooled. I was asked to put a list together of QBs that I think are better than Stafford. I do understand that some had good defenses and some had running games but that doesn't change my opinion. I hope Stafford improves and moves up the list (maybe top 8).

Heard Stafford on Mike & Mike this morning. He sounds pretty focused. I know a lot of it was probably mic talk, but he pointed to himself when asked what went wrong the year before.

Didn't blame others or playcalling or coaches....just said he needs to get better and for everyone to hopefully stay healthy.

IMO....Stafford will more than earn his $$$.

In this league if you have a guy you can win a Super Bowl with lock him up and move on. He doesn't have to be top five to receive top five money - see Flacco, Romo, Ryan. Stafford is the equal to all those guys in my opinion. Rivers and Schaub? Rivers played in an uptempo Turner offense for years with LT, Gates, VJ, and a super weak division, with that Stafford would have had 6,000 yards. Schaub has the best run blocking oline, Foster, Daniels and the original Megatron AJ. Same argument can be made for others you have higher but those two are definitely below Stafford on my list.

Flacco, Romo and Ryan are all better than Stafford IMO. I Like Rivers & Schaub more too but I can see how someone might think Stafford is better. My main point to begin all of this was that the Lions are / were screwed by the old CBA when they had to sign Stafford to that huge contract due to taking him #1. Hopefully he can get better and earn/be worth what he is going to make.

The numbers. 3 good years. Really a 3 year deal that will get extended again before 2016 season.

They'll extend Suh next offseason as well just like Calvin and Stafford never actually played on a 20 million number yet. I like the plan in place.

Restructured Suh and Stafford twice because of the old CBA and still manage the cap well. Good job by Lewand.

Plus they can carry over the 5 million in space. Or sign somebody now. Either a Winston or Pettigrew extension.

My reservations about drafting never extended to the contracts they've got players to sign, they've done well with the old CBA hamstring.

He's in that pack for me too. I think Stafford has higher upside, like I posted earlier he's the poor mans Favre, hopefully he'll morph into Favre one day, he's only 25.

The Lions have alot of talent, great core and added more with Bush, Quin, Idonije, Jones and this latest draft.

You'll change your tune hopefully on Broyles, Reiff, Bentley, Fairley and LeShoure. Plus have more confidence in Pettigrew/Delmas(health). If they all or most suck then I'll change my tune. We both better hope it's you.

The old CBA hamstring only allowed the Lions to re-sign their own in 2012 as well. Tulloch, Hill, Backus, restricted Levy, Sammie Lee Hill all brought back. Plus franchising Avril after 2010 and 2011 good pass rush seasons was the right call IMO. Some disagree. That's alot of people they needed to bring back eating up cap. Confidence at the time was correctly high on Avril, Willie Young and Lawrence Jackson.

And Reiff and Broyles can bear a ton of fruit this year especially with Backus retiring, Gosder overpaid and Titus insanity.

Free agency this year gets an A. Our draft I can't complain, I mocked two of the three first rounders to us and am higher than most on Slay. I think you picked out some good turn around candidates above, except for LeShoure 3 YPC.

LeShoure was 4 YPC before his groin flared up. We have Bush to hopefully make teams pay more and take more carries than 200 for LeShoure and LeShoure has more experience. Plus we'll see what the 3 new guys do for run blocking on top of improvement from Pettigrew, Sims. Raiola is the lost cause but he even added bulk.

Lions don't need to improve in every area. I'd say run game is the least important considering they've made due for several years without it. Even 2011 29 PPG year. And 23.3 PPG with 4 short fields and weapon injuries in 2012 is good considering the circumstances.

Since Barry retired I pretty much assume we have no run game. Now I just hope the coaches do the same. Relying on the run even against nickel D cost us games last year.

that's the main point....we couldn't even run against 5 and 6 guys in the box lol. that's just horrid. Whats that superstar Pettigrew doing?

Two deep safety, 6 in the box it should have worked. We'll see what Bush can do. History doesn't guarantee it won't work in the future. Especially with many personnel changes in that department. Sims and Pettigrew can pick it up too. They aren't lost causes.

Unless Pettidrop wants to be paid in smiles and handshakes.....I hope we let him walk or trade him to the Pats.

He hasn't shown he can do much more than most blocking TE's.....and they aren't that hard to come by. Shit, we drafted one this year.
