We aren't talking about the other injuries, because I'm pretty darn sure that New England had to deal with them too. We are talking strictly Calvin vs Gronk. And Gronk missing NINE games makes Calvin's two look like chump change. A team can overcome missing a guy for 1-2 games. Losing one of your top targets for basically most of the season, not to mention that when he returned he was not 100 percent, is brutal.
I'm not thanking Mayhew for anything. I'm pissed that he passed on needed secondary help for a 2nd TE. None of what is said will change my mind on it. You go Dennard, Van Noy, and Moncrief, the draft is worlds better than the way the Lions went.
He already had secondary help with Slay and Mathis, Quin and Ihedigbo. Speed TE/slot WR was a huge need. Ebron is a perfect fit.
Calvin is much more of an impact player and his 2 games trumps 9 for Gronk.
Dennard rides the pine over Mathis and Slay. Ebron plays and is a much better option than Moncrief. Van Noy will impact. Swanson for the future at center.
