Stafford

Little FYI. Ever since Stafford has gotten over his injury bug and has played 3 full 16 game seasons in a row, he's had a comp % of 61.5, thrown for 90 TDS (avg 30 a year), avg over 4600 yrds a year. The kid has it in him to be elite. It's the picks that have killed him. Add the fact that he's had pure garbage to throw to his whole career minus CJ. Great coaching and his willingness to absorb it all is key.

you mean the garbage nate Burleson that mayhew kept resigning over and over and over again? nice job mayhew.

and a little fyi....Stafford pissed the season away last year. We had a lock on the playoffs and he couldn't deliver. we had 4th qtr leads in almost every game and he couldn't close. he was awful last year...and healthy.

I know Durham is not a 2, thankfully he'll be down the food chain this season but I don't think he was pure garbage. And he was cheap as hell..

He just shouldn't have been put into that spot..being a number 2.

You just stated that we had 4th quarter leads in almost every game but then blamed stafford. If we were already leading who was giving up the leads? Now obviously stafford has to get better. But I do believe a huge part was lack of pass catching options. The fall apart last year was when calvin was already basically done and it showed big time. Kris Durham, pettigrew, fauria, and burleson was probably the worst nfl pass catching group in the nfl at that point. Who can make a catch past 15 yards out of them? Once in a great while sure...but I hope I never have to see that lineup again,

How do you be among league leaders in drops with only 39 catches? That's pure garbage. There is no upside in him. A waste of a roster spot. The guy didn't even do anything in college with his best friend as qb for fucks sake,

Burleson was supposed to be a decent #2...he was a disappointment. A lot of injuries. Not all Mayhew's fault. Stafford turned Durham into something relevant as well. Something the Seahawks former QBS could not do....he still sucks though.

The whole team pissed away the season. Not just Stafford.

No other choice. Burleson and Broyles on the mend. Throw Titus in the mix too.....fn shitshow

The issue with nate wasn't that he wasn't a capable receiver he just didn't fit what this team needed. We needed someone who could beat 1 on 1's. Nate wasn't much of anything down the field. He was a slot receiver who was playing outside for us. 10-11 yards a catch is not what you want from an outside guy.

we didn't score in entire halfs of like 8 games.....that's on Stafford.

Pittsburgh...defense shit the bed. the Tampa game stafford lead us twice to win the game. One ball was popped out of calvin for a pick. Another was Durham throwing the ball inbounds. The Philly game was 300 yards rushing. Clearly defense... Then we lost calvin and it was bad from then on out.

yup Stafford was awesome...that's why absolutely zero people in their right minds have him as a top 10 guy. he totally did everything he could which is why our gm fired our entire coaching staff then hand picked offensive coaches that could fix him, got him a wr in fa and a weapon in the top 10 if the draft. yaaaaaa stafford was sooooooo awesome......riiiiight.

How is getting him weapons a bad thing. Didn't New Orleans and Green Bay get more wr's too? And they easily have better supporting casts than stafford last year. Green Bay took like 3. And they have Cobb and jordy. Brees has graham and Colston and stills. Stafford had calvin and....Durham. Sooooo great for him right? You're real bright there.

But you just said we had leads going into the fourth. Who blew those? Was that stafford too?

Stafford couldn't get anything going in the 4th quarters but at the same time the defense couldn't step up when needed.

So combination of both.

I have no problem with agreeing to that. I believe with improved weapons the kid could shine. We'll see I guess.

I attribute a lot of that to the coordinators. When the average fan can sit at home and guess what the Lions will do on both offense and defense you have a real problem. I felt like they just stuck with what worked in the first half even when other teams made adjustments.

Yup. It is still preseason, but I like the way the OC is calling things thus far. Having CJ in there is another wrinkle we haven't seen yet.
