Super Bowl??

Same ole same ole. We're long shots to even win a division and with Arizona improving it won't be easy getting into the playoffs.

I don't get the desirable part. Cap hell with the main piece Stafford lost..Can accuracy, his major stumbling block, be taught?

The right head coach will do wonders. Best case scenario.........well let me just shut the fuck up and see who we end up with. I like what I hear from mayhew though, can't lie. This does seem like the best offseason scenario for a turnaround type of year. I just want them to beat a good team with however many wins they accumulate next year.

Sorry to say but it's more than a head coach. This organization is dysfunctional at the top. If Lewand want's to turn things around, he needs to get his big boy pants on and take control. He needs to get Khan who will bring Cowher with him. In my opinion, this is the only option.

Stafford's season was really a case of two seasons in one.

First 8 games:
Com Att Yd Com% Avg Td Int
211 338 2617 62.4% 7.74 16 6

Last 8 games:
Com Att Yd Com% Avg TD Int
160 296 2033 54.1% 6.87 13 13

The first 8 games look like a young, up and coming QB around which you build a team.

The last 8 games look like a 1st round bust.

This doesn't factor in drops, Strength of schedule, or anything subjective. These are just his raw stats.

The main issue I have is that at his best, 62.4% is about average. At his worst, 54.1% is really, really bad. Rivers had the best Comp% at 69.5%. That number is not sustainable, and Stafford is not that guy. He will never be a near 70% passer. But that's OK. The best career completion percentage is only 66.0 % anyway. That Qb's name is Chad Pennington.

To say that he is lost as a prospect is ridiculous. If he can sustain his production near or at the level of the first 8 games this year (that was only a few months ago, BTW), we aren't even having this conversation.

Next years schedule looks like a very winnable schedule. But both Chicago and Green bay will be better so it will be dependent on how quickly the new coaching staff integrate their schemes and put a good product on the field. Also we need another explosive draft. Mainly at wr and Te where we get some guys that can push the field. With two explosive wrs and bush and bell doing there thing even if they keep fauria and grew this offense should be able to win games.....IF Stafford goes back to taking whats their instead of forcing throws. Also we need to fix drops and fumbles. We had 11 fumbles from Bell and Bush!!! How is that possible. You have two jobs. Run and dont drop the ball. Everything else is instinct. They need to go to the Tiki Barber/Adrian Peterson school of ball carrying.(HIGH AND TIGHT) Cut down on our 40 plus drops. Defense needs to step up. We have some pieces but start playing press with the corners with Safety help on their best weapons and I think we have something. Enough of this giving up catches and trying to keep it in front because these dudes routinely missed tackles.

Drew Brees, you know who is? Some would say he's a gunslinger, and yet 4 of his last 5 years have been over 68%. Two over 70%.

No one expects Staff to be as good as Brees but they are so far apart it's not even funny. Look at Rogers, consistently good with competing passes. P. MANNING seems to always be over 65%. Now these are elite QB but it gives an idea of how far apart they are..especially when some say Matt was brilliant for half a season.

Maybe people don't think completion percentage is that big of a deal..a guy like Staff, number one pick making his money should be at 65% year after year. It helps.

Drew Brees has more than once come close to 20 picks in a season just like Stafford. He throws the ball with more accuracy I will give you but also his guys make plays that ours don't. They don't drop many passes. Also Peyton is a way better OC and head coach then our combo was or ever will be. I think Stafford can be elite because he has shown that ability more than once like first half of this year and most of 2011. Linehan is terrible at grooming qbs his teams put up points but the qbs never learn fundamentals. (Culpooper is a perfect example) I think if the right coaches get brought in the difference will be night and day.

I just hope he can be decent for a whole season. Elite :lmao:

Manning would be awesome with Shorts and Linehan.

He was one of the best in the first half of the season...putting up ELITE numbers. All I have said is he has the skills but fundamentals kill him. Needs to read defenses faster and more precisely but the ability is there. When he takes his time and sets his feet he has more ability than anyone in the NFL right now. Nobody has that arm strength and quick release like him. Unfortunately he rushes and forces throws which has killed so many guys with his similar talents. (Favre, Marino, Elway(until he got older), Vick, Cutler) The list goes on. He can learn to be more consistent and get out of his head. This season his regression had to be mental its the only thing that makes sense. He lost so much confidence and it was visible in his play. But I would still rather have him then a guy like Alex Smith who can't win you a game with his play.

He was putting up good numbers in the first half, not elite numbers. And who cares he sucked for a half. The best don't do that.

2 years in a row of inconsistent play. Staff is 2012-2013, not 2011. Staff/stats don't lie. I remember when Brady Anderson hit 50 home runs, doesn't mean jack if you can't continue to do it. Foles, 27 - 2. Now that is elite, a 3rd round pick. Doesn't have the arm as Staff but he's smarter with the football.

Youre right......on pace for 5000+ yds 45 tds and 14 ints isnt elite. Numbers dont lie early on he was putting up great numbers. Second half he was worse than I have seen him since rookie year. I am as pissed as you but I know what I have seen from a capability standpoint. Coaches never made these guys accountable and never reigned them all in. No ability to adapt to injuries or defensive changes. It was inexcusable.

So now you just double it? Why not multiply 1 game by 16. You want elite for the first half look at Peyton.

He also plays in a running offense with uptempo play. They don't put him in bad situations. First half against the lions he looked like SHIT!!! We werent letting them run and put the ball in his hands. Unfortunately Stafford fumbled six damn times and Joique twice then the defense fell apart. But we frazzled him and I dont think he sustains this type of play against better teams. They will get shithoused vs Seattle or San Fran. Good D will prove that. When they can't run and are going three and out and their shitty defense can't get off the field Foles won't be able to win games.

That was beyond elite. Nobody has ever done that. You agree Brees is elite and Stafford was on par with him.

Elite is not 6 games. That's like saying Foles was as good as Peyton when he only started 11 games. Elite is not playing 3 quarters and then shitting the bed..

Fourth quarter numbers, what were those again? Better than who those last 7 weeks, Geno Smith - lol.

I dont disagree he wasn't elite this season. I am saying the potential is there based on when he was on compared to other qbs in the game.
