The FIX is in!!!

So if we're going to assume that he's honest about what he did and didn't do, why would we assume his claims of the NBA fixing games was dishonest? And if the NBA is willing to fix games (allegedly) for ratings, why not the NFL?

I have no idea what happened during last nights game, but I do know it's awfully fishy and the public has more reason right now to question the integrity of the game than not to. Any questions about fixing at this point are fair game in my book.

This was my point more eloquently stated. Not that the game WAS fixed but anyone that has that inkling (no pun intended) is no longer a crackpot in my book. Tigermud can come on here and expound at length to me about Goodell's big red button and I'll stroke my chin, furrow my brow, and exclaim, "tell me more my good man".

Yup the Pistons should have won three in a row.... Depressing memories :/ Oh well fits in with the mood today...

"red button" That tickled my funny bone... Back to CT's about the teams I like...

I don't think fixed is the right word for what this all is, I haven't been able to come up with the best wording for it yet...it's more like an if the opportunities present themselves error on the side of team X or Y and it can be different each week for or agiants any given team..seems most of the time the determing factor is ratings or best feel good story, best buddy system...which owner says yes enough, it's not black and white...what should this be called I'm not sure yet...it is true though that the NFL is a business in the entertianment category there is no law that states it must be a fair contest between two teams..the controlled outcomes are in fact legal, if they want to try and cuase one team to win over another it's perfectly legal for the NFL to do so.

I'm still leaning / hoping it's not the same for baseball but do wonder there as well at times, maybe much less often...that ball 4 call to bogarts two years ago, I mean really rookie gets the error on the side of over the cy young award winner really now? That was back breaker at the time I don't think it was series game changer but still Boston was a good feel good story that year no? After the whole Boston matahron event and Boston strong mantra?. C'mon now the following year Boston finshes last. Lol yeah oooooookay then

Inge getting hit in game 163 not called... I bet there is list ten miles long for the teams in this state and botchery of calls against them... None of the teams are immune from it.. Michigan,Msu,all the Detroit teams.. I happens way to much for my liking...

There is an amazing amount of scientific evidence to support the proposition that life on earth may have originated on Mars so I'm down with that.

I for one question the integrity of the game, the patriots win the SB after 9/11 the saints win after hurricane Katrina I mean c'mon man it's all about the ratings and the feel good story lines..damn I thought maybe they'd let the lions get one eventually after the city has become a third world end of the world zombie attraction and old man ford even died maybe they'd finally let em in on one but nope couldn't out do jones, Christie and a packer cowboy frozen tundra ratings banaza I guess,, maybe next year! Yeah sure..

I have argued the Pats win after 9/11 with my wife a bazillion times, because she's convinced that was rigged too. But it makes zero sense. Why not a New York team? Or even the Redskins? A city where the attacks happened.

The NFL would have made a MINT with a Giants win that year. Maybe not so much the Jets.. Ya know... Planes.... But the Giants would have been a windfall.

Or how about the Yankees in the World Series over the D-backs?

Just doesn't add up.

Agreed. And without sounding too "conspiracy nut" let me add a little to that very thought.

As we all know, I was military, and even worked for a short time on White House security detail. I was never assigned to the President or anything like that, just general security, but we learned a shitload about protocol in protecting the administration.

I am not a big fan of the 9/11 conspiracy theories, but it always amazed me that on the morning of 9/11, the president was reading books to a school when he was told about the attacks. He spent another 30 or so minutes, before getting on a plane to be flown to a secure location.

This violates every protocol and policy in the book. The presidential travel schedule is published in advance, so anyone (terrorists included) would have known where he was at that exact time, and the only reason to not believe that school could be a target for an attack, is if you already know exactly what the targets really are.

Bringing it back around...

The Cowboys took some big big gambles against the #2 defense in football on 4th down, and it paid off. Plenty of time left on the clock, the offense wasn't moving the ball well in the 2nd half... there is just no reason to go for it there on 4th and 6 and risk the field position... unless you already know for fact you will get the first down, even if a mystery flag needs to be thrown.

And that is probably the weakest damned argument you will ever hear me make on this board. I don't even like the sound of it as I am typing it. But the fact is, you take the biggest risks when you know you have a safety net, a helmet, an airbag, or a ref in your pocket.

At the end of the day, it stings. I think we should have won that game. I think the refs did influence it. I am angry enough about it that I am probably seeing shit that isn't there. But we all knew there was a damned good chance we wouldn't see another round of the playoffs too.. and that's exactly what happened.

We look forward to free agency, and the draft, and then pre-season... and it's just another day in the life of a Lions fan.

I guess you could say that both cases were

(?_?)

( ?_?)>⌐■-■

(⌐■_■)

a false flag.

YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!

So you're sure we would scored? This is the Lions..in that situation a lot and come away with nothing but yesterday they would have scored? Lol. Yeah okay.

I don't know for sure they would have scored, but they were driving and getting into a rhythm. You saw it, i saw it, the world saw it and the refs saw it.
Worst call i have ever seen. At worse and i mean at the very worse they could have called a facemask on Grew and a holding on the LB. Offsetting penalties resulting in a do over of 3rd and 1. AT WORST!! But no!! Liins got jobbed royally. Dez should have been flagged too. You dont run on the fkn field. That's 15 right there!! lol. Blandinos explanation was a joke...

Hanlon's razor - Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I agree and it sucked..and we would have had a better chance to win. I just wish we could have made a stop on that 4th and 6..

Balndinos off the jones party bus yet? Lol in fairness to that putz he did say there should have been defensive holding on the play called...

At min there should have been multiple flags offsetting repeat 3rd down...not flagging Dez was appernetly at the discretion of the refs which should be complete utter bullshet

Baseball isn't having these same stagged integrity issues, thier main stick right now is the steroids use unlike the NFL where it's all about ratings, feel good stories and or yes men and party buses "Patriots" red white and blue..Bob craft is a better yes man for the league

Baseball both ignored the steroid problem, and then promoted the problem, all in an effort to boost ratings.

I refuse to believe Selig couldn't see McGwire and Sosa were juiced in 98, and there is no selling me on the idea that he watched Bonds forehead grow into an eighthead and didn't know.

If the league was willing to smile and watch 'roids rake in the dough, they'd be willing to fix a few games. Again, the argument here is if we've seen it in one league, we'd see it in more.

Or, as Emmitt Smith would day... "If it slip in week 1, it slip in week 8".

That link eventually got me to Matt and his mic'd up game against Cleveland. When I fell in love with our QB. Long time ago, not I can't stand him..
