The Official Round 1 Draft Thread

There is very little risk here IMO, the police has said he is not a suspect at all. They could change their mind, but that's very unlikely, this kid is getting railroaded. I would pick him in the 2nd if he's still there, kid has 1st round talent.

Unfortunately, that means nothing at all.

He's not currently a suspect. The police also have no suspect. Which means they will investigate to find a suspect.

That could turn out to be anyone, including La'el Collins. Saying he's not a suspect when they have no suspect at all yet is not reassuring to anyone.

I feel bad for the kid, because he's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but if he's clean of all this, he's already paid a multi-million dollar price for something he had nothing to do with.

I don't give 2 fucks what LKP had coming to us. OL was a MAJOR NEED and they locked up the Guard position for the next 8-10 years. Then we acquired picks and picked up a serviceable versatile OLineman. You would have bitched regardless of the pick. All you do is cry. The one major thing this team needed and you still moan like a bitch....it's hilarious lol.
Tony just shut the fuck up please....you bitch more than anyone. The rest of us had a good conversation about the pros and cons about the pick. All you do is provide nothing....always. gtfo.

It's how their board stacks up obviously and you had either an 8-10 best olineman stacked against probably tge 2nd best 4-3 de in the draft and arguably the 2nd best 4-3 dt in the draft. Tough call but we did need a o lineman with an early pick. You wonder if gregory was off his board completely.

Gregory should be off every board.

I give him 3 years in the league before he smokes himself out of it......ala Charles Rogers.

Anyway, I thought Tomlinson was a fine need pick, but questionable value. I'd like to think he'll solidify the line a bit, but I don't expect him to come in and play as well as Warford did last year. If I was picking an OG, I would have taken Collins, but I understand how the potential legal problems affected the decision.

Ramirez was a fine throw-in, though I'm leary of what he'll actually do here. His best years have been playing C in Denver, in front of an all-time great QB. He was terrible as a guard for the Lions earlier in his career, and now he's going to be past his prime. I think best case is that he shows has one more good year left and allows Swanson to bulk up for another season. Swanson still has a long way to go to being starter material (on anything but an injury-riddled line), and could be best served as a multi-position backup next year.

I like the pick. While I'm not as high on Ramirez as a couple of you (you really need to let go of the "he protected Peyton argument") he serves as quality depth at 3-4 spots on the OL. Tomlinson should step in and start immediately.

For those of you that wanted Marcus Brown, do you really think he starts over Ngata/Walker? Sure he'd get some rotations but I'd rather have a guy that's playing every snap on offense than every 3rd play on defense. Then add to the fact that if you draft Brown, you most likely have to start Ramirez. Trust me, you don't want that.

Mayhew on OL Manny Ramirez: "Quite frankly, I don't know why we ever let him go."

Umm...you are the GM, you should know why.

He played like dog shit here. He just can't say that now because it'd be pretty awkward.

There is a lot to like about the pick no doubt. Myself I've been bitching for OL for years, I wanted Humphries but can't complain too much with Tomlinson. It's a copycat league most of the time and the Cowboys hit a home run drafting a first round guard last year. That being said do you know how I know you guys are LKP level homers? You thinking/defending ManRam as our starter for all of a half hour and then flip flopping like a circus tumbler. Read the thread to verify.

I never once said ManRam was a starter for Detroit. I said he started in Denver. He's competition if someone falters.....this is a good thing.

You're a clown and a fucking crybaby bitch.

alot of people have listed same reasons as me ....he choses to bitch at my post 9 out of 10 times. My wife doesn't bitch and cry at me more than him.

Because calling out your stupidity is too easy lol. You're the ONLY ONE who wasn't "impressed" with the pick. Remember, you were giving Mayhew a chance to impress you?? You self absorbed dousche.

We have interior Oline depth in one great move by Mayhew including a nice young starting guard for 4-5 years.

We'll probably get two of OT, RB, CB, DT on day 2. We have 8 picks in 2016 draft plus two ore more comp picks coming. We are 35 million under the cap for 2016 next year right now (25 million including 2015 and 2016 draft picks). We still have a good Dline, good back 7, good weapons, good QB, solid RBs and now a much better Oline. We have good coaching. And we have depth in a lot of positions.

This is a playoff team that is in a good situation.
