The ?Way too Many Bowl Games? 2018-2019 Season Thread

where I live a union carpenter starts at $28 per hour (that does not include a similar amount that goes towards benefits)

The nearest border to me is the Canadian border, but that would be a long swim. Plus, they live in a utopia where they all get free healthcare. Why would they want to leave?

Carpenters shouldn't make $28/hour plus benefits! That Seems high (but is more like $46,000/year after taxes)! Insane!

However, Ball State's head football coach, who I assume probably works 80 hours/week all year long because I heard football coaches work real hard, and has unique skills that not just anyone has, should make $435,000/year. and the average MAC coach should make even more because REASONS!

IU head basketball coach Archie Miller is the highest paid public employee in Indiana, making $3.2 million a year, per this ESPN report.

thanks for providing this info.

I wish I hadn?t become as interested in this discussion as I had or at least as early as I did because now I?m having trouble going back to sleep from the brightness of my handheld device.

AHA! If you have an iPhone, I happen to know you can set "night mode" on it so it's on 24/7.

eliminating harsh blue/white light is key.

Did they attend the previously mentioned trade schools?

Don?t think so. I think they learned at the school of Necessity is the Mother of Invention.

They ain?t in no union and they don?t start at no $28 an hour.

They do get free healthcare at the ER though.

Well that's interesting. So, what's the plan here? We're expecting people that think college is a good idea to go to trade schools instead after we build enough walls to stop the University of Necessity graduates? Why do people born in the US have to go to trade school? Can't we open a U of N campus here in the States?

It sounds like a scheme to get me to pay more for an educated work force. Where's the part of this plan where I don't have to pay more for anything?

We're off target though. This isn't about who gets to be a carpenter, it's about who gets to be a bowl game. I wouldn't mind seeing schools refuse to go to bowls that require a certain number of tickets to be bought. If a bowl can't sell tickets based on demand (rather than contracts and schools just eating the loss), that's a good indicator that a bowl shouldn't exist.

In the US we call it the School of Hard Knocks.

I don?t where you live but in Southern California we have no shortage of trade workers at all.

We have thousands of them streaming across the border every day.

San diego... where Every home depot parking lot has 30 guys that will build you a house $6 an hour.
