The ?Way too Many Bowl Games? 2018-2019 Season Thread

There is no more convincing eye test than winning the conference championship. Besides that there would be almost as many at large births for deserving teams as there are now.

I have to correct myself-there would almost surely be more at large berths.

This season only one of the four at large berths went to a non-power five champion.

The other three at large berths went to power five conference champs anyway.

So there would be two more additional at large births for non-power five conference champions than they were this year, if expansion included auto bids for the five power five champions.

Commissioner Reagan had it right-there was nothing like watching the Rose Bowl from frozen over Ann Arbor growing up there.

Actually the UCLA and USC game which came on right after the Ohio State Michigan game back in the old days gave one the same sort of feeling, especially the years when UCLA was the host team.

EDIT: I just checked and I guess UCLA has only been playing home games at the Rose Bowl since 1982. My bad-I thought went back for long before that.

They only lost by one score. They proved they deserved to be there. It’s not like they got rolled by 26.

They did fine.

I was talking more Alabama and Clemson, or being as good as a power five conference champ.

They’re not quite there yet. Obviously neither is my team Michigan.

No offense intended.

EDIT: If it had been an eight team playoff with the power five conference champs all getting auto bids this season, I would have objectively absolutely put UCF in for an at-large berth over Michigan.

They have a good offense........when they catch the ball(75yd td drop) and not overthrow guys wide open in the end zone. UCF has a good team, too many fuck ups today.

Ok don’t really care. Only watched three plays today. Ucfs Td and 2 point conversion and almost onside kick recovery. By 2020 or 2022 hopefully there will be one large exciting playoff system!

Thank you Ohio state and Iowa for saving face for the rest of the shitty b1g.

So a 4 loss Texas team is up 17 on Georgia, and people thought this 2 loss Georgia team should make the playoff because they lost closer to Alabama.

Wow, I dont know if Texas wins, but they are showing what game planning and testicular fortitude is all about in this 1st half.

Texas gets 2 point conversion and is now up 28-7 with 11:49 left in the game. Basically running over Georgia and physically dominating them. This is crazy.

Maybe Michigan and Georgia should play one additional game against each other in the RotoRooter Most Over Rated Bowl.

Then Georgia answers right back. 28-14; still a pretty high hill going into the middle of the fourth quarter.

Texas may indeed find a way to fuck this up. Now 28-14 and UGA will be in hurry up mode with 7:30 left from their own 11.

2 targetings by Texas on last possession for UGA leads to a late TD with 14sec left. Texas wins in convincing fashion 28-21.

Harbaugh take note. Game planning does work and you don't have to run the same sets and plays every game. And Brown, shaking up your defense and being unpredictable is a good thing. How Texas shut down the best set of RBs in the nation was genius.
