Turning The Corner Tigers Podcast #36: Catching Feelings. 52 minutes.
A show about the Detroit Tigers with Cody Stavenhagen and Kieran Steckley.

The Detroit Tigers started the 2021 offseason with a splash move by trading for Tucker Barnhart, which solidifies the catcher position. The Athletic's Cody Stavenhagen and co-host Kieran Steckley breakdown the move.

Other topics include how Al Kaline's family dealt with his massive estate.

These 13 teams are said at least gauging the SS market so good news for the big 5 (Seager, Correa, Story, Baez, Semien). PHI DET TEX NYY LAD LAA MIN HOU CHIC STL COL SEA BOS). The last 2 are surprising but a couple of top SS also play 2B and positional changes r always possible.

3 teams vying for 5 top SSs incl. the Detroit Tigers. Bidding wars will be driving up what is already expected to be insane contracts. Not good for the Tigers who also need multiple other pieces, incl. 2 more SPs, to fill in the holes.

There are lots of ways to evaluate the strength and competitiveness of a baseball team. The Detroit Tigers are finally showing signs of life, but how much further do they need to go?

Take the St. Louis Cardinals. They just became the 1st MLB team to take home 5 Gold Gloves - 1b, 2b, 3b, LF, CF. Their catcher nominated but didn't win. Their Defensive Runs Saved was 81. Good for 2nd place in MLB.

The Tigers had not even a single nomination for a Gold Glove. They rank #26 in DFS with a -35 DFS. Defense has to come up dramatically before they can become contenders.

If Robbie Ray wins the Cy Young, he will be the 5th former Detroit Tiger to have won it, joining Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, David Price and Rick Porcello.
