Tigers 2021-2022 Free Agents Trades Rule 5 Arbitration Moves

Correa just declined his qualifying offer from Houston. This might actually happen. Not sure how I feel about it, but they certainly would be a much better team next year. Fuck it, not my money! Sign em all!!!!

Believe me, im not pro 10 year big money deals to an oft injured guy. It's risky as hell. I remember how many people complained about Carlos Guillen his last 3-4 years when he couldn't even stay on the field and he was only making 12 million per lol. At least miggy will be off the books soon so worse case we just have a new guy to bitch about lol

these deals almost never work out. In 2020 the Tigers were still paying Prince Fielder $6M.

Latest Eduardo Rodriguez buzz shows Red Sox desperate to keep him.

The Detroit Tigers' newest acquisition, Eduardo Rodriquez, isn't a stranger to Detroit personnel. He'll be reunited with his former pitching coach, Juan Nieves. Tigers had the advantage of having more intel about him over the other 4 teams in the mix to sign Rodriguez.

This, to me, is significant. Rodriguez made 15 starts against AL East teams, five against the Yankees -- heavy right-handed hitting lineups. So his elevated slash-line numbers might be misleading. Also love the 31% whiff rate with his 92-93 mph heater up in the zone.

I wonder when they tell Al Avila they signed EROD?
Nice of Hinch who is actually running everything, let Al do the honors of saying they signed him.

The next SP signing will be small.. or not at all.. don?t sleep on how effective Tyler Alexander was the last 6 weeks of the season..plus you have Wentz and Faedo.

Don?t be surprised if Tigers sign their shortstop before December 1. They?d like to have their big signings in place before any possible lockout, which would shut down free-agency.

Say good bye to Matthew Boyd.

Rodriguez had a 4.16 ERA and 3.32 FIP last season for the Red Sox. Finished sixth in Cy Young voting in 2019.

Let's also add that ERod's 10.6 strikeouts/9 inn and FIP (3.32) both ranked 4th in the AL last year. In August and September, he went 6-2 with an 3.07 ERA - and half those games were played in hitter-friendly Fenway.

In 2020, the Tigers offensively had the majors' lowest walk rate/highest K rate. So they used a limited FA budget to sign Robbie Grossman as a way to begin addressing that. In 2021, their pitchers had the 7th-worst BB rate (9.3)/4th worst K rate (20.4).

Eduardo Rodriguez had a 4 percent walk rate/28 percent K rate. Detroit again was looking to begin addressing a larger team issue; this time with considerably more dollars to spend. Those were both career-bests for ERod. Will he retain it?

He's a veteran presence offering mentoring and stability. The Tigers had MLB's highest number of starts last year by rookies - 77.

He also has solid defensive stats for a team that ranked near the bottom defensively last year with - 35 DFS. You need strength up the middle and combined with Tucker Barnhart, the Tigers are starting to shore up the middle.

This is why you have to look beyond the stats like ERA of the Detroit Tigers' signing of Eduardo Rodriquez. He checks off so many of the boxes that can provide solutions to the weak areas of this team. This is how you get better.

Eduardo Rodriguez is guaranteed $28 million in the first two years of his new contract with the Tigers. So if he opts out after 2023, he?ll leave three years and $49 million on the table.

Eduardo Rodriguez has the 3rd highest projected fWAR among all starters available this off-season. This *could* be a pretty significant bargain.

Detroit Tiger fans may have a little fun enjoying the news surrounding the NY Mets, who are officially baseball's most dysfunctional team. Why? Read on...

The Mets are the team that was turned down by 13+ candidates for the GM job. They previously went through 4 GMs in 12 months - 2 fired for inappropriate behavior. Now they've hired Billy Eppler who was fired from the Angels over a year ago for 5 straight losing seasons...

Now the rumors say that he is going to hire as his manager for the Mets.......... Brad Ausmus. His former manager who notoriously got the job in LA because he "aced" the managerial written exam. NYers will have him for lunch. Looks like the dysfunction will continue....
