PROMISE, POTENTIAL AND IMPRESSIONS.

The first year of any new baseball regime is always the toughest for fans.

Sure, we?re always hopeful when disastrous GMs are shown the door and a new era is ushered in.

But we?re never handed a summary of how good or bad they will be as they step into their jobs. We have to wait for things to unfold. Slowly. Bit by bit.

Fans are in a blind spot for the first year. We really don?t know how things are going to work out. We have to hunt and peck for those little moves that tell us what kind of a PoBO or GM he may be.

We add up all those little clues during the year and start to form some first impressions. And when we get enough of them, we put them together and begin to assemble the new Front Office?s patterns and ways of operating.

Personally, I like what I see in Scott Harris so far. God knows he was given an absolute dumpster fire of an organization to dig out of and had to spend some time steering the ship away from the rocks. It?s going to take longer than a year for him to get fully up to speed given everything he?s had to address first.

But my impression of him is only partially formed. I need to see another year as PoBO in which he moves from the reassessment phase into the re-imagine stage.

Given all of this, I can see how very differently this organization is being run now that the grown-ups are in charge.

And that?s what today?s blog is about.

What about taking that money that Dick Rod opted out of and offering it to Trevor Bauer?

only on a cheap "prove it" deal. I know he got railroaded by that slut, but he is still a whiny little bitch

I agree, but he pitched damn good still in Japan. Nothing more than 2 years, but 2 years 35 mil wouldn't kill us.

I looked at the ranking for announcing crew last year in MLB.. Detroit was ranked 30 dead last..

White Sox 6th best.
Comments: We?re a long way from the Hawk Harrelson years, aren?t we? Jason Benetti has been such a breath of fresh air in the White Sox booth, and the fanbase has to be thrilled that he and Steve Stone will be around for the long run with the franchise.

I thought the bold part was funny..

Saw that Dickerson will do the remaining games that he's doing national games. Wonder if thats what sold him, that detroit would let him do some national games? Don't know much about him, but a stuffed deer head could do better than Shep.

Don't know much about him myself but he's suppose to be one of the better ones.. And no Shep..

I don?t get hiring a guy who is a Sox fan. I would never do it. I wish Dickerson was a tv guy. I know he will fill in. Guess I would miss him on the radio but I?d prefer a guy who rooted for the tigers. . Probably to hard to find.

We tried them all. No one left in Detroit. Ernie did the radio for teams before Detroit and grew up in Atlanta. Doesn't really matter.

Considering yesterday?s hiring of Jason Benetti to take over the play-by-play for the team?s tv broadcast, we ask that you save your comments about this news for Saturday, when we will cover it in-depth.

For this day only, a maximum of 6 sentences please.

Tigers LHP Jack O?Loughlin has agreed to a MiLB deal with the Oakland A?s, including invite to spring training.

The Rays have claimed Tyler Alexander as we all sit and wonder what secret thing they will unlock to make him elite.

Tigers fans will always remember the 9 STRAIGHT K's and the constant usage as both a SP and RP.
