If Keith continues to struggle, I would send him down and let him continue to develop. It would be stupid to bring him up before he proves himself just because they gave him a contract.

Good article. One thing she didn't bring up in this article is how a team drafts along with their timeline of wanting to compete. A team like the Tigers, that needs help sooner than later, probably shouldn't be taking too many high risk high schoolers. The Rangers drafted a 22 year old that will probably win rookie of the year one year after he was drafted. The Tigers took a HS project that couldn't even make the major league spring training team.:mad:

Who are these you speak of, what draft?

Max Clark is barely 19. Why would he get ST at bats? Those would be just a waste..
that's kind of my point. Drafting a high risk 18 year old vs. a low risk (relatively speaking) 21 year old doesn't make too much sense when the Tigers need players sooner than later.

How is he high risk? He's younger doesn't make him a high risk. I prefered a college bat as well but we don't need him to play now. We already have guys who can play the OF. If Meadows doesn't work out, you got time to get Clark in afterward. I'm also curious how you have determined Langford will win ROTY? He's probably going to be their DH.

statistically, players drafted out of high school have a lower success rate than those drafted out of college. Vegas odds indicate that Langford is the favorite to win ROY.
