Why trading for Joc Pederson doesn?t make sense for the Tigers.
Detroit would be better served saving their assets and waiting a year on Pederson.

Having a power LHB in the lineup and perhaps being an upgrade in the OF (not at all hard to do, considering the defensive prowess of most Tigers' corner OFers for many, many years) for one season would make watching the games more enticing and tolerable this season. I have no faith in the owner Ilitch investing in high quality multi-year contract-worthy FAs next offseason, even after Zimmersuck's dead money millstone ends this year, but Pederson seems a more likely candidate for making him a QO...if not a deadline trade piece next July, IF he performs well in order to become a more desirable and valuable FA. Joc Ks about twice as often as he coaxes a BB, so he definitely fits the Tigers in that category.

LHB LFer Stewart is projected to have a slight uptick in homers next season with 13 in the same amount of PAs with 415, after smacking a total of 10 last season, while RHB RFer Demeritte is projected with 9, BUT in only "293" ABs, so there is a platoon anticipated with ? Both are averse to walking compared to striking out..nearly 4x as often combined in the latter case.

twinks fans are laughing about Tigers manager Gardenhire boasting about plucking two of their players in Cron and Schoop this offseason, but maybe they aughtta concern themselves more with somehow their teams can finally figger out how to stop being the yanks' bitches in the postseason, or hope/pray that they don't face them again if they clinch a berth.

they should laugh at him if he is boasting about picking up those two guys.

Detroit Tigers reportedly close to a deal with Cameron Maybin.
The former Tiger is coming off a good year as a role player in New York.

Cameron Maybin back for an unprecedented? 3rd go round with the Tigers. There have been a few ex-Tigers who had returned a second time, such as Todd Jones, Edwin Jackson last season, Omar Infante, and Kyle Farnsworth (but who was the result of being traded from the yanks in exchange for Ivan Rodriguez and appeared to be unhappy b/c of it). Not gonna help with their RHed-heavy lineup, but who likely will prove to be of value covering for all 3 spots in the OF, especially in the corners with probably Victor Reyes and JaCoby Jones manning CF.

It will be Maybin’s third stint with the Tigers, which could well be the most in team history: Players who have had two stints with the team include Brad Ausmus, Willie Blair, Kirk Gibson, Jose Lima and Todd Jones; Ausmus returned to serve as field manager from 2014-17.
