Tigers looking at Mark Buerhle

Latest is Buerhle looking for 4 or 5 year contract with a no trade clause.
Found that with the marlin's interest, but the snag is the no trade.

MLB on XM guys expect him to sign for 4yrs and $14mil/yr. They also said they see him as a #3 starter who will go 13-10 with a 4+ ERA. BLAH.

not sure if I like 4 years...I think his ERA would be sub-4 at the Copa

Looks like 14 teams are interested in Buerhle. If the Tigers get him it will be like winning the lottery. He would finally put a quality LHP in the Tigers rotation

I like the idea of Buehrle as a mid-rotation lefty here, but I don't like the cost or years I'm hearing are likely. I feel like that $13m-$15mil for 4-5yrs could be better spent on a guy like Reyes (he'd cost more than that obviously) or getting a 7th inning guy and a stop gap 2B/3B that'd give us more bang for the buck.

3 teams have offered Mark Buehrle today a 3 year contract. 2 of the teams are from the National league and the third is not the White Sox. I have this sneaky suspicion that the third team is the Tigers

I'll bet on the Yankees.

they are trying to trim payroll so i think they will go the trade route and grab Gio Gonzalez

3:00 update;
Rangers, Nationals, Marlins most aggressive on Buehrle.
Nats prefer shorter deal on Buehrle to longer one with Wilson.

Buehrle not closing in on decision yet, hasn't eliminated any teams yet.

Tigers aren't pursuing Mark Buehrle now, more likely to sign or trade for a No. 5 starter type.
morosi

if we sign one, i vote bedard over the other options out there. i dunno who we could trade for, really.

The Twins, Nationals, Marlins, and Rangers are in on Buehrle, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, but the Twins' offer is not as strong as the others. The other teams are believed to be in the three-year, $36-39MM range. Yesterday, we learned that Buehrle is the Nationals' top target and the Marlins have made him a strong offer. The inclusion of a no-trade clause will be a factor.

The Yankees? When do they ever purposely trim payroll?
