Tigers vs. indians Game Thread Sept. 3

Damnit, Peralta and his first pitch swinging.

Don't forget the first pitch HR by Delmon last week when he went back to back with Fielder.

should have been DFA'd for that.

At least Avila took some pitches on his double play.

Yep, he should have flailed at the first pitch, like he did at everything thrown at him in the last couple of days, other than his last bat last night.

Come on AS..... Get it together... Freaking lead-off walk.... Yuck.... need a DP...

How so?

He's backing up his argument, and pretty well at that.

His argument was that since it works for Hamilton, it is fine for Boesch to swing at the first pitch. He isn't backing that up at all. I would say that the stat that KC posted a couple pages ago is the clearest refutation of that. Is there anyone else here that thinks that Boesch is wise to swing at the first pitch he sees, which in this case is a marginal strike that he couldn't handle, after seeing evidence of wildness on the previous batter? It's a perfect example of the poor batting strategy that affects this time so much of the time.

His argument before that was it's okay to swing at the first pitch if it looks good.

And yeah, Boesch, Hamilton, anyone....should swing at a pitch if it looks good to them, even if it's the first pitch.

So no matter what, Boesch shouldn't swing at the first pitch and be down 0-1 in the count? Boesch has long arms and can extend over the plate an drive the ball. Perhaps since the bases were loaded Boesch knew he was going to get a first pitch fastball.

You can post all the damn stats you want the facts are the bases were loaded and the Tigers had a chance to break this game wide open.. A young weak hitter swung at the first pitch and bounced into a DP... Inning over and a failure on his part to help the team.. Every situation is different in baseball and there is a time to swing at the first pitch and time not to..... Lets all move on... We are not going to change anyone mind.. I am not going to mention it again... But we all know certain guys have the green light and certain guys should not have the green light. I respect everyone opinions on it either way...
