Considering Pedro Martinez dominated in 99 and received none, I doubt he had a true shot at it anyways..

It is not just domination, but the competition. JV has the advantage of not having to a dominant favorite for MVP and several candidates are from the same team (Cano and Grandy, Pedroia and Ellsbury and Gonzo).

Pedro received more 1st place votes in 1999 than Pudge.

I stand corrected, but probably the most dominant pitching season in arguable 30 years and he didn't win the MVP.. I think if someone is going to argue for Clemens, they have to look at Pedro in 99..

wtf is wrong with our hitters? hes throwing meatballs right down the middle and we're just taking them.

This is the first time I've been mad while watching tiger baseball in over a month, god i hate this feeling. Its been so nice latley.

Unless the HP ump is squeezing JV, the last inning was one of his typical past seasonal brainfart innings where he fucks up, then regains his composure for the remainder of the IP.

Tigers 2nd inning,

Cabrera taking low and inside, again 3 and 0, strike call, again full count, low called strike three fuck this f'n ump, die ump angel campos f'n die right at home plate c'sucker,

Martinez takes low, strike call, changeup strike call, fly to left,

Avila walks,

Peralta takes a curve outside, fastball inside, fastball high ground foul, takes a curve strike call, grounder to short flip to second,

guthrie with 29 pitches,

wtf.

Pedro in 99 or 00 was the most dominant. Some honorable mentions to Clemens in 86 and 97. Gooden in 85. JV this year. Randy Johnson in 01 and 02. Not sure if I am forgetting anyone.

I think if Inge and Santiago were starting, a couple of those singles would have been groundouts in the infield.. Starting Raburn and Kelly was playing somewhat with fire.. Kelly is just not that great at 3rd, and Raburn blows period..

I credit the o's bats a lot. They were behind in counts and hitting well located balls... They were pretty much all seeing eye singles. Just sucked.

The last two singles were well hit, but the first two were weak.. I think an average infield would have gotten to those balls..

The Orioles have not given up. They could have easily thrown in the towel on their 90+ loss season.
