Tigers vs. pirates Game Thread May 18

Wow, the Pirates lineup is horrific.

After McCutchen they have one other player with an OBP over .300, and that's Neil Walker whose hitting .260/.313/.321.

And that's with a DH in their lineup.

I think JV goes the full 9 tonight with 12 strikeouts and no ER.

jones k's swinging,

mcgeehee with a comebacker to JV,

mclouth grounds to Raburn,

Verlander with 23 pitches,

Tigers lead 2 - 0.

Pirates only have 4 guys hitting above the Mendoza line.

Peralta fouls first pitch, shoots it to the right side for a single,

Raburn fouls fastball back, throw to first Jhonny back safely, lined down third and just foul,
curve low outside, fastball inside, grounder to short for a 6 - 4 - 3 double play,

Kelly fouled down left, curve stays high, that one drops in strike call, swings and misses,

Tigers lead 2 - 0.

It is shockingly bad.

Gotta feel for McCutchen, he's putting up all-star numbers, and has not one quality ML hitter around him.

barmes swings and misses,

mckenry swings and misses, first pitch was a 90 mph changeup per gameday,

harrison foul pops to Fielder,

Verlander with 34 pitches,

Tigers lead 2 - 0.

I hope JV don't let up, because it must feel like pitching to a little league team right now.

Dirks takes inside, fouls it back, changeup way outside, hit hard to center and mccutcheon runs it down,

Cabrera takes off speed low, slider strike call, curve fouled back, fastball inside, curve inside for a full count, swings and misses on an inside fastball,

Fielder takes a strike, fastball tails back and gets the corner, now he swings and misses,

pirates pitcher with 48 pitches,

Tigers lead 2 - 0.

For crying out loud, we're matching the Pirates in strikeouts.

Holy shit, look what you can do when you don't swing at the first goddamn pitch everytime.

lmao!! Classic!

King of Detroit is at Comerica tonight....great game to be there.

Even though he caught it, that play has me worried that Jackson isn't out in CF.

Bottom 6th for Tigers,

Avila already with a walk and single, 2 and 2, takes outside and high full count, fastball fouled back, steps out, grounder up the middle diving play by 2b throws him out,

Boesch takes a changeup strike, another is low, ground foul, fastball fouled back, again, and he just gets a piece of the slop he chased, changeup outside is a grounder to short,

Peralta line drive single to left,

Raburn curve low outside blocked by catcher, grounder to short,

Tigers lead 4 - 0.
