Tigers vs. pirates Game Thread May 18

This is incredible...can we just skip the bottom of the 8th?

Verlander pitching 8th inning, Santiago to 2B and Raburn in RF,

mcgeehee curve strike call, fastball fouled back, 98 on the corner called strike three,

mclouth fastball off the corner, fastball strike call, fastball tailing back just misses, fastball checkswing appeal ump says no, fastball fouled back full count, swings and misses a 99,

barmes 100 mph fastball strike call, curve just high, curve low checkswing strike call, chases a slider away,

Verlander strikes out the side and has 95 pitches,

Tigers lead 6 - 0.

Wow, the Pirates lineup is horrific.

After McCutchen they have one other player with an OBP over .300, and that's Neil Walker whose hitting .260/.313/.321.

And that's with a DH in their lineup.

I think JV goes the full 9 tonight with 12 strikeouts and no ER.

You might have shorted him a few K's, but pretty good guess.

The one time when I don't actually want to see our guys get hits.

Tigers 8th inning,

Santiago takes a curve low, lined deep to right off the wall for a leadoff double,

Peralta takes a fastball low, curve for a strike call, chases a curve on/off the corner, off speed low, fastball in on the hands and hit to left center drops in barely with cf getting a glove on it and can't hold it, Santiago holds up and can only get to third on the double,

Raburn takes a curveball strike, fastball fouled back, chases high......

Kelly fastball in on the knees, fastball fouled back, changeup lined foul down left, fastball high, swings and misses a curve,

Dirks curve strike call, chases a low curve, swings and misses,

Tigers lead 6 - 0.

I was actually thrilled with Raburn's at bat this time. 3 quick pitches as usual.
