Tired of talking about 2013 and before.....

Not all of those 16, 17 and 19 picks were his fault. Stafford is not int prone.

High drop % hurts his comp % and injured weapons hurt that too.

Stafford is low/mid 60%, 5,000 yard, 30 TD guy. He's a stud QB.

What Stafford IS based on his career numbers:

59.5% completion; 4600 yards; 7 yards per attempt; 28 TD, 19 INT

He is NOT a stud...he is slightly above average. Now, if you want to say he could become a stud QB then we would all probably have a reasonable conversation with you. But as of this date he has not proven that he can be that elite QB that you think he IS based on what he has DONE.

Don't care about fixing their secondary? Maybe, just maybe, Slay pans out, they found a replacement for Delmas immediately, they drafted a cornerback to challenge for Bentleys job, theyve got 3 young guys (Green, Greenwood, Vaughn) that imo could possibly challenge Mathis' job by the START of the season, otherwise be solid depth. Let's not forget vaughn either..more depth. I honestly think it sucks that we probably won't be able to keep all these corners. Slay, Mathis, Bentley, Lawson, Green, Greenwood, Vaughn. We are set at corner, and solid at safety.

I hate the way you guys have already written off this secondary, alot of you guys dont even give these guys time to develop, you just label them not worthy. While I agree this is a make or break year for Bentley, Green, and Greenwood, I dont think we've seen enough of them to label them just yet. I blame their lack of pt on the old staff, and fully believe Green or Greenwood wouldve and shouldve taken Chris Houstons job last year if given the opportunity. These guys are going to surprise you in a good way THIS YEAR, mark my words.

You don't "address" the secondary by picking up a 4th rd cb out of frikken Utah state. He might develop into someone that can take over for Bentley....but that just means you wasted a pick on Bentley.

We don't give guys time to develop? How many frikken years do they need? lol. How many times is mayhew going to draft a mid to late round cb just to watch him sit on a bench for half a decade before hes released? Wouldn't you want to try something different after that plan of action didn't work out for you for 5 years?

Soooo...at this point we have to HOPE and PRAY that one of the worst corners in the league last year (Slay) turns it all around in 1 offseason with a new dcord. Totally could happen because hes one of the few people on this team with ability.

Quin is meh....his cover stats are great....but since LKP watches tape so much he can tell you his "true coverage" which is he gives up a ton of big plays by missing tackles and being late with help over the top. Which don't count against his cover stats cause he wasn't 1 v1 against that man....

Ihedigbo and delmas are a wash. Nothing exciting there....Ihedigbo was worthless for most of his career which earned him a starting spot for the lions. that should tell you about all you need to know about the state of the lions secondary.

Mathis....after a season on IR with a knee, missing half a year with a groin, and a torn acl....even the jags didn't want any part of the 2nd round cb out of Bethune-Cookman....a powerhouse football school if I ever heard of one. mathis hasn't been good since the 2008 playoffs.

It's not writing off the secondary. It's looking at what they had last year, seeing that they did basically nothing to address the issue, and making a logical conclusion that they suddenly won't get better overnight. Slay is young, Mathis is about finished, Bentley can't stay on the field, Ihedigbo is not good.

Quin is rarely late in coverage and had few missed tackles. He's a good player and earned a good coverage grade on the whole, not just the 1 vs 1 targets.

Iheidgbo can play and limit coverage mistakes unlike Delmas. Great in run support and blitz too. Typical strong safety.

Slay has the size and speed and fits the scheme. He could be a very good player. It's year 2 for him, yes he gets 2 years.

Bentley improved last year and is better in the nickel role. Far from a waste of a 3rd rounder.

And Mathis played well in 2013 in coverage. Now he's a year further removed from those injuries. You are dead wrong as usual hughes.

Because Slay develops in year 2 and they added Ihedigbo. Mathis played well. Quin played well. They didn't need to do anything is the point.

And if we took Dennard. You'd be bitching we didn't add another weapon besides Tate or that we didn't address future center. Or mayb we don't even take Van Noy then and then you are bitching about the strong side LB.

28th or worse in pass defense for a majority of the year equates to "not needing to do anything".....which is why mayhew sucks as a GM and why you suck as a poster.

Maybe the cb position didn't need to be addressed? Just what I'd like to see, another rookie cb out there getting destroyed. We've got plenty of youth with talent at corner already. Glad they passed on Dennard, very glad. Darqueze"PI" Dennard

If I could...I would bet that donte moncrief and davonte adams both have better years than Ebron. That's called piss poor value....

We don't have plenty of "youth".....we have plenty of "suck" in the secondary.

Yeah, who wants the best CB in college football, won the Jim Thorpe, basically locked down his side of the field? A real CB, one that plays the game and isn't just "measureables and potential?"

2nd team all-SEC in 2012, basically put up no numbers of note at Miss State. Another guy drafted because of measureables. Dennard was a substantially better PLAYER than Slay in college, you know what you are getting with him. He's going to be a staple in the secondary because he knows how to play the game. Slay, like every other CB on the team has potential.

Houstons injury fault. Delmas big mistakes and Slay had rookie ups and downs.

They were much better in alot of categories. Comp %, ints, TDs allowed, 3rd down stops. They didn't finish 28th in yards either.

Slay develops, Mathis plays exaclty the same and Ihedigbo doesn't make major mistakes like Delmas, Quin is good. This is a top 10 secondary if heathly with this pass rush and LB coverage support.

Dennard played in junk Big Ten and gets away with murder with PI. No way he is better than Slay.

And now Houston is gone...and we did nothing to replace him. Which means were hoping and praying that slay improves. This is a top 25 secondary and as soon as slay or mathis goes down....its a top 32 secondary.

Best CB in college football in 2013, vs a guy who played for Miss State that was shredded by the 4 ranked teams they encountered. Basically the best player on a defense that was the best in the country. And dear lord, he actually PLAYED well, he's not just a guy that's got great measureables.
