To everyone who says Ebron can be like Graham

I'll do what I do every year..go into the season knowing the lions stink but hoping I'm hugely surprised..

That's just part of being a Lions fan.

There is no path to the SuperBowl for us. That's not our lot in life.

Our job is to wear our jersey's with pride during an 0-16 season, and the following year to do it again.

I'm 41 this year. There is zero chance in my mind I will see a SuperBowl ring with a Lions logo before I die. But, I'm from Detroit. I grew up watching those Lions. I got to see the greatest RB ever play, and I'm watching one of the greatest WRs ever play.

And... all I can do is trust the scouts, the coaches, the GMs, and hope for the best. But I have no reason to ever expect a title.

Lol if that was the case, then everyone would just draft QBs, WRS, and RBs, because those are the ones that can make immediate impacts. It would be like those 7 on 7 flag drills LOL.

Ink, if you have no reason to ever expect a title, then why in the holy hell would you trust the management?

So never take a DB high because it will take a couple of seasons to make a huge impact.

We took one high last season. Now let him develop.

You guys are like mixing up a cake, and then throwing it away without ever putting it in the oven, because it wasn't done. Then making another and doing it again.

You gotta let it cook.

Same except on 48 and feel like on 68.

Just watching that CBS video.

Ink, they've been letting the cake cook for 50 years. It's still not done.

If you want to be optimistic about the pick - the seams were wide open last year (and the year before) and Stafford couldn't hit our TEs. Scheffler got cut because of it. Pettigrew dropped damn near every seam pass (except one absolute circus catch). Fauria is slower than Dog the Bounty Hunter and his routes suck - he was a UDFA. He's a beast in the redzone and so shall he be next year.

If I had access to the film I'd cut it for you - LKP get in your parents basement...I mean your film room and get on it. Do I think you need to grab a guy at ten to attack the seams? For fuck sakes no that is retarded, but if he plays up to his potential he's a major weapon. The pick stinks out loud but there you go.

I feel like we still need one. I have hope in Slay. Houston I don't, Mathis is older and the other guys, no. Not starters anyway.

Because I don't get to make the picks. Neither do you.

Would I have picked differently? Yep. Am I going to stop being a Lions fan because I don't like their picks? Nope.

So what choice do you have left? You can complain, or you can trust they know what they are doing.

Applying Occam's Razor, the principle that all things being equal, the single simplest solution is usually correct, is it easier to believe...

A) A coach who makes millions to know football, and a GM who played in the NFL, with the support of an entire team of scouts who have watched countless hours of game film and spent hours interviewing these kids knows what they are doing?

B) A bunch of guys in their living rooms posting on a football forum know more than they do?

... Seems a pretty logical reason to trust their judgement over anyone on this boards to me.

Ink, I would normally agree with the "They are pros, they know what they are doing," but in this case, I can't. This franchise has proven for decades they know only incompetence, do not know how to draft, evaluate talent, find coaches, find players, etc... I have a hard time believing that these guys are the best for the job.

Houston is on the down side of his career. Mathis is old. Let Slay develop. The other corners aren't top 2 types.

Since you put it that way,Ink. We need some serious luck..

What team doesn't man?

Since the Seahawks keep coming up (flavor of the month and all) let's really think about their SuperBowl season.

Injuries happen to every team, right? But did they really have major injuries?

Sure, they lost Percy Harvin.. but they had to know that would happen when they traded for him. He's always hurt.

The Legion of Boom, that amazing secondary everyone wants to model themselves after... stayed healthy.

Imagine how much different they might have looked with Earl Thomas or Richard Sherman out injured.

It's luck, and nothing more in the NFL, that they didn't have major injuries there. It's luck for Denver that Julius Thomas developed the way he did.

Luck plays a factor for every team. But when you play disciplined football, luck bounces your way more often than not. The Lions were anything but last season.

Caldwell is a guy who can change that, and if he does, our luck may change with it.

Believe it. Don't believe it.

It won't change that they are the guys running the team and the pick is in.

Your only choice really is to be a fan or not be a fan. It's pretty obvious that just like the rest of us, you aren't trying to bandwagon to a new team, so son.. you're stuck right along with us.

The only thing being angry about picks is going to get you is an ulcer and a steady supply of Pepto.

Lombardi wanted Ebron. Caldwell wanted Lombardi. Mayhew wanted Caldwell. Ford wanted Mayhew.

We didn't necessarily want any of those guys.. but hey.. it's what we got.

Mentioning the Detroit Lions and razor in the same post? There's a joke there somewhere.

I know that I have zero power to make or change their minds, but that doesn't mean I cannot be disgusted with what they did. For me, when I start to see that this team could potentially find its way into a good situation, and then they do something like this (which, IMO, was a horrible pick), it makes me sick, and brings me back to the reality that this franchise just doesn't have what it takes to understand winning. It happens in sports. The Cubs, Browns, Jags, Clippers (for a long time), Bucks, those teams have a losing culture born into their DNA. Sadly, that's what we have here.

Picks 21 through 32.. 9 defensive guys and 3 offensive guys.. Our organization just never gets it ever.... I am pretty sure Seattle drafted a bunch of those great defensive players who stayed healthy... We did not need a tight end at pick 10.. If Matt is good enough he will make others better around him... Damn I wish he was a leader...
