Training Camp News

To me, someone saying a player "is going to be a beast" is just Tony saying he thinks Van Noy will be really good.

What's wrong with that. Every person on this board does that with newly drafted players. Not one of them has ever played an NFL down either......but every single poster on this board has said one player or another is going to be great.....or terrible.....or a superstar....or a bust. I do every year. Hughes does. Tony. You. Ink. Mitch. Tom......ect....

I didn't see one post where Tony said Van Noy is currently great. THAT, would be reaching.

Abdullah could be a beast.....if the line plays well, the coaches actually use him, and he doesnt get injured. That's asking a ton. ...a huuuuuge fat ass elephant ton. Love how he runs though. ...i said it during the draft. ....he reminds me alot of ladanian tomlinson with better hands.

Van noy is a lb in the 4-3. Theres very few impactful 4-3 lbs in the nfl....and we already have one on this team. Kvn (i like van boy better) will be servicable at best.

Having another premiere RB in Detroit would be awesome. Really impressed with this kids football skills, but even more impressed by his personality and how humble he is. If he stays healthy, we could have a star in the making, along with being one of the NFLs good guys. I just hope his ball security improves.

Abdullah's view on his first game

Love Abdullah. Love his running style.

My worries....just like when we drafted him.....is his durability and ceiling. He runs bigger than he is.....can he take the punishment NFL players can dish out. Also, if durability becomes an issue....what is his ceiling? Change of pace back? 10 touches/game?

I just hope he stays healthy.......would love to see him have a successful 8-10 year career.

Don't shit in our cheerios! He will play 10 years, 20 touches per game, no injuries

No to mention, being humble, he will forgo any salary increases and demand to be paid the league minimum to help the team.

I begged and begged for Abdullah before the draft. I said during the draft I didn't care who we got in what round, as long as we got him.

I'm happy. I'll cover my bowl of Cheerios to protect them.... you can't bring me down on this one.

Wow, really disappointing. At what point do the Lions write this guy off? He plays limited snaps for 2 years, do we just cut him? Would it save the Lions anything cutting him after this year?

We kept Broyles for 3 seasons so at least 1 more.. It seems.

Should've cut him after his second injury too. Agree? I don't want to get into the we shouldn't have drafted Broyles in the first place conversation. Just asking you guys at what point SHOULD they give up on this guy? The way it sounds he is leagues behind our other linebackers because of how much time he's missed anyway. He's basically been away from football for 2 years. In my book, he'll be at the point of no return, unless he can get healthy, stay healthy, and actually be productive, THIS year. Right now he's just a wasted roster spot

Cost more this year to cut him vs keep him. Even next year isn't a huge savings. He will be on the roster through the 2016 season I would imagine.

Hopefully he can play this year and contribute, but not like we was looking great in preseason. Not looking like a good pick at this time.

Damn......I really thought he was going to be a really good NFL linebacker. It's too early to write him off at this point....he turned 24 in March....but another injury is concerning. Hopefully, stash him on the PUP....so not to waste a roster spot and get him healthy and he can contribute the last 10 games.

Hopefully.

Don't worry...this team is holeless!

You do realize that this is WHY having good depth is important. Mayhew has done a great job of depth at many positions this year......not all, but LB, RB, OL, LB and CB are all able to take a hit without losing much.

LB is a position on this team where one injury to anyone but Levy isn't a big deal.

No more injuries, though.

In no way is Travis Lewis good depth.
