Yoenis Cespedes - Cuban CF

One executive posed the question: "Why is Yoenis Cespedes playing in any Winter ball games?" Olney says Cespedes' first few games have looked rough, as he hasn't played for a long time. With questions about his ability to pick up a breaking ball, he could potentially hurt his value with a poor showing, and doesn't stand to gain much if he plays well.

These games will not have much of an impact on his value.
They will, if the fears are realized that he can't hit a breaking ball in the DR he value will drop down to a reasonable value. I doubt the Yanks go after him now with the signing of Kuroda and the Nats are now out. The only scouts that have been at his games this week have been the Tigers scouts

No, they won't.

Despite what many think, Cespedes isn't some huge unknown.

Teams have been scouting him for years.

It's beyond naive to think after scouting this guy for years teams will change their opinion of him based on a few games.

Lets hope so! His value needs to come down. People on here dont want to pay for Ace pitchers the last couple years....but when a no name CF from a foreign country thats never played in the big leagues hits the market everyone is on board for 10+ mil lmao....you guys confuse me -.-

Cespedes' says 6 teams are serious contenders...one is the Tigers

Yeah, two being the White Sox and the Indians, the former especially not making much sense b/c of letting Buehrle go, yet they are willing to maybe pay big bux to land Cespedes, who, unlike their former SP isn't a proven commodity. Their luck with spending large sums of money on FAs has not been very good at all. The Indians are kind of a surprise...but IF they somehow were to land him, maybe the Tigers could then coax Cleveland into letting them take Shin Soo Choo off their hands. :)

Six teams eye Yoenis Cespedes

Yoenis Cespedes has two hits with six strikeouts in 19 at bats in the Dominican Winter League, tweets Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com.

Yoenis Cespedes has yet to establish residency in the Dominican Republic and a source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports there is no guarantee it will happen this week.

Good to see a high school alum doing well.

Listed age is 26...so that means he's at least 30.
cubans, if they lie about their age, will say they are OLDER than they really are so they can get on the cuban team earlier so they can defect earlier. so if he says hes 26, theres a decent chance hes actually younger than that, not older. dominicans lie about being younger (nunez and carmona, for instance).

KalineCountry[/color]]with Prince Fielder, this 'might' be passe' now.

Yeah I would have to agree with you here buddy in saying this could be a moot point with the Fielder signing. Cannot say I am unhappy were not a player though lmao.
