I think a lot is riding on whether the Tigers sign Cespedes. If the Tigers get him, that makes A-Jax available. I read somewhere that Oakland really likes A-Jax. A-Jax would hopefully be the centerpiece of a Gio Gonzalez deal. Maybe I am completely off.

Aj? Why not have this guy play a corner position and get rid of the Raburn/DY situation? Seems more reasonable. And OF defense gets that much better.

Is this guy a corner OF guy? I don't know. From everything I have heard, he is a CF. I definitely would like a solution to LF but if we could get a young quality left handed starter then do it. Quality pitching saves far more runs than a great defensive CF.

I read that some teams are wanting him as a CF and some as a corner OF.

Delmon young is a beast we shouldnt get rid of him. He did nothing but hit homeruns and hit when we got him and was big in postseason. You guys get caught up too much in defense. It just doesnt matter as much as in other sports.

Delmon wasn't a good hitter when we got him, he was merely average.

You get caught up in small sample sizes.

Additionally, his .756 OPS with DET last year was still below average for a LFer.

the more i read about it, the more id love signing him for a corner OF spot.

Same, at this point, I want the Tigers to take a shot with him.

It's obviously risky, but if he could be a quality leadoff hitter it would go a long way to improving our lineup (just think of how good we were when Jackson was on fire in August/September) as well as our OF defense would be very good.

and i think the risk on him is less so than on most of the big free agents in terms of money vs length of contract and age/production vs contract length. itd be a much better deal than signing pujols for 10 years for sure, and a better deal than the ones the marlins gave reyes.

Mitch[/color]]I still wish he was a bit younger.
26 (if that is his age, granted) is young enough that if we gave him a 6 year contract wed have him through his prime.

I would still think he'd need some time to acclimated to MLB and he might not hit right away. Of course who knows how old he is. I wonder why he didn't defect when he was younger if he had so much talent? Its still not my money so I'd be fine with it.

Yeah, Mark Anderson of TigsTown said he'd probably start off in the minors and, pending performance, would come up around June.

That'd be a lot of money for minor league ball :) Though I do hope we land him even if its just for the potential. We need something around here.

Yeah, he opined that it was more just go help him get acclimated to the U.S. culture than anything.

its not as easy to defect as it seems. i read an article on what chapman went through to defect, and its pretty tough. they have fairly tight security and if you fail it can be bad.

bored so i watched his 20 minute video on youtube. Atleast hes in great shape! lol

Hopefully he stays in great shape for 6 years. Or gets fat and old if signed by anyone else.
