2016 Draft- Who ya got?

Ziggy is a UFA after next season, he'll want to get paid. Keep that in mind. Not sure if there any other potentially big contract re-signings on the horizon.

Give him a good chunk of Ngata's salary, but hopefully the new GM will be smarter with how these guys get paid.

The GM and players have to weigh how much they demand in $$$ vs how much that hurts the team's chance to win a SB. That should be spelled out to the players like Suh who don't seem to grasp they are on the field with many teammates who are all needed in order to win. If you don't want to win, then you don't need to be on the team and good luck finding a team willing to sacrifice winning in order to pay you what you are demanding.

If that means Ziggy leaves, so be it. I want a TEAM of players who are wanting to help forge a TEAM of winners more than earning a few extra millions. Sorry, that's just my opinion. Will some make more than others, of course...but don't handicap the team because you are selfish. The Staff/CJ/Suh contracts were completely unacceptable.

I disagree. If I am a player or an agent of a player I squeeze as much out of the team as you can. These guys have a short shelf life...get every dime while you have the chance!

That's why many of them go from bad team to bad team to bad team. And never win anything. What they should do, especially the 2nd-3rd contract, take less and go to a perennial winner - like NE, or teams like GB and a few others. But it's traditionally the bad teams who offer the most money.

My guess is it's just a business to a lot of these guys....as it should be.

Sure they want the most cash, but as it should be? Yeah if you're stupid. As a WR, take 10m x 3 years (12 guarantee) to play for Jacksonville or 8m x 3 years (9 guarantee) to play for GB? Stupid is as stupid does.

The smart player takes the $30M ($12M guaranteed) over the $24M ($9M guaranteed)

Depends on what the players long term goals are and lifestyle goals. No state income tax in Florida vs 7.65% in Wisconsin. Warmer weather in Florida. 3 Million more guaranteed is important.

25% raise if they play the entire contract, that is nothing to sneeze at. I wouldn't say that is stupid is as stupid does at all.

I agree with you if you're talking about superstars.....guys who have probably made enough money at that point that's its not going to make a difference in their future.

As for the middle of the road players......I take every fuckin cent that I can get my hands on. Honestly, I would. I would have no loyalty.

Of course I'm talking about superstars. Or players who were drafted in the old rookie cap where they already made a ton.

Good point, Brewer. I had forgot about that. But there are players who already earned 30-40-50 million or more who go to junk teams because of 2-3 mill.

Even the non-superstars how much is enough? I'll take a 5m 1 year contract to play with NE over 7m playing for Detroit.

And it's not about loyalty, boog .. it's going to team that has great success over one that hasn't any. When guys retire, their one regret isn't "I wish I had 2m more" but "I wish I had won a SB."

then you are talking about a very small percentage of NFL players. I am talking about the majority.

Yeah, it's not Roberts, it's the brother.

Multiple rumor say it was a bad reaction to "spice", which apparently is a synthetic marijuana. Never knew such a thing existed.

With the abundance of weed.. and the number of states pushing for legalization... science really spent it's time developing a synthetic?

That stuff got banned here a few years ago after several bad reactions. Kids were buying it at gas stations and going crazy and even dying from it. Similar, though not as severe as "bath salts", which is what that nut in Miami was on when he chewed off the other guy's face.

We are the 6th pick now. LT is probably gone. Best defensive player.

Didn't even notice that... I just saw Old Miss and Nkemdiche. Nice catch and correction!

Glad I read the article, otherwise I'd be thinking this guy was a headcase draft week, probably be wondering why nothing was being said by the "analysts", and laughing at the team that took him early in the 1st.
