Bentley ACL

why would it take him awhile to get him up to speed? Hes been in this offense longer than anyone on the team. This is a brand new offense and rookies reported earlier than anyone else. He should "be up to speed" moreso than anyone else. Im not the one comparing him to jimmy graham like everyone else on here likes to do. How many games does NO have 2 TEs catch more passes than jimmy graham? ESPN has a rookie watch list this year. Theres categories like "fast start" "showed potential" and Ebron was one of the only ones in the "disappointment" category. You guys talk a whole lot about how good Eric "Jimmy Graham" Ebron is....im just waiting to see it. Im sure he will have a couple games this year where he catches like 5 passes for 85 yards and you guys will come on here and say "SEEEEEE, I TOLD YOU!!! rawr, I told you HUGHES youre such an idiot!" and then ill remind you that youd have to be handicapped NOT to get 85 yards in a couple games in this offense.

Meanwhile....at practice....Abdul Ismael Qifftus ISbus Shiek is missing tackle after tackle and cant cover anyone.

Once again, he's a fucking rookie. Why did cj catch 48 balls his rookie year? Was he expected to come in and play like he does now? No. Why is ebron suppose to be different? You sir, are a fag, and if you don't like this team, then why are you on here? Go hop on a winning teams bandwagon, and be the fag that we know you are.

KDP, I get what you are saying, but it's pretty tough to compare the situations with Calvin and Ebron. Calvin was brought along side of Shaun McDonald, and the headcase that is Roy Williams. And the fact that he caught 48 passes hides the fact that he ended up with 756 yards, which is a TON for a rookie.

Ebron is being brought into a situation where he is an added luxury. He is expected to produce a little bit early, because all of the pieces are around him already, and there should be little to 0 pressure on him. I'm not expecting him to be Jimmy Graham day 1, but he damn sure better make a decent impact for this team going forward this year.

Not only is the Lions playbook more complex than anything he ran at UNC, but he is having to learn several positions. He has been out wide, on the line, the slot and even in the backfield. Not to mention Stafford is calling two plays in the huddle and will sometimes kill the first play.
Whats wrong with this first round pick that it is taking him some time to feel comfortable in the offense. Another wasted Mayhew pick

How many catches did Graham have in his first game as a pro?? How bout Ben Coates, Sharpe, Gronk, Vernon Davis, or any other elite te? Just sayin, hughes putting huge emphasis on ebron first career game simply because he hated the pick is unfair and just plain silly.

I agree that putting too much emphasis on one game is silly. That said, given the Lions significant weakness in the secondary I would have felt MUCH better if they had drafted a DB in the first round vs. Ebron.

So Hughes let me guess this is pretty much how you feel about the draft...

Ebron-wansted pick, luxury and the secondary players would have helped the team so much more.

Van Noy-another injured Mayhew wasted second round pick

Swanson-why spend a 3rd on a back up center, could have got a WR

Lawson-wasted pick Bentley was our nickel

Reid- not another rotational DT

Jones-just another wasted late round wr that cant stay healthy

Freese- wanted pick could have got him as a undrafted FA

Me too, that doesn't change that judging Ebron is premature. I hate the pick too, but know that this pick will work in our favor soon. I wanted Clinton Dix to be the pick, but since the Lions front office gives two shits about what I want, I'm just going to have to live with their pick, and try to embrace it, and hope that everything plays out like they think it's going to. We need to trade Pettigrew or Fauria just to clear the air, and make this pick seem like the right one, imo, and give Ebron the reigns along with a ton of snaps. He is a better talent than Grew and Fauria combined, so, also imo, turn them loose one way or another.

perfect

Atx I know you are trying to make fun of Hughes, but there are a lot of Lions fans who feel that way about several of the picks, myself included. I wouldn't call the Ebron pick "wasted," but I don't like it. I think the drafting of a below average backup center with your 3rd rounder is horrible. The rest of the picks, meh, we'll see.

Not enough emphasis on defense during the draft, I think we can all agree with that, center could've been picked up during fa

Boo hoo wasted picks in your own short term way too quick judging minds

Get over it everyone. Nobody cares who any one of us would have taken. And we don't know if mayhew is right or wrong

Ughhhh LKP it's a discussion board. Anytime I ever hear people say "Get over it." "There's nothing we can do," basically means that message boards shouldn't exist for us to have conversations about.

From what i read the knock on Swanson was his strength, a year with NFL strength training should help that. Plus a year to sit and learn.

The staff felt good with the safety position and where we were drafting it would have been too high to pick. Gilbert was gone and Denard didnt go till quite a bit later in the draft.

Talk about the game or the next game. Not some bullshit opinion on who you think we should have taken. Nothing is wrong with 2014 class yet to complain
