Bentley ACL

How many catches did Graham have in his first game as a pro?? How bout Ben Coates, Sharpe, Gronk, Vernon Davis, or any other elite te? Just sayin, hughes putting huge emphasis on ebron first career game simply because he hated the pick is unfair and just plain silly.

Find where I say I hated the pick...anywhere. Tony said that...not me. I said top 10 picks should produce. Instead fauria and pettigrew catch more passes than he did.

So Hughes let me guess this is pretty much how you feel about the draft...

Ebron-wansted pick, luxury and the secondary players would have helped the team so much more.

Van Noy-another injured Mayhew wasted second round pick

Swanson-why spend a 3rd on a back up center, could have got a WR

Lawson-wasted pick Bentley was our nickel

Reid- not another rotational DT

Jones-just another wasted late round wr that cant stay healthy

Freese- wanted pick could have got him as a undrafted FA

Pretty much...ya.

Ebron is not a top 10 talent...and wasnt a need. Awful value unless he produces...which he hasn't yet.

Van noy great pick

Swanson /puke

Lawson. All mid round cbs are crap unless seattle picks them.

Reid and the de were goid transitional guys incase we go 3-4.

Jones was dumb. Hes a worse version of broyles...who is inactive anyways cause we need help on the outside...we dont need more slot wrs....ebron and tate play there.

I'm not a huge fan of the Ebron pick either. I just didn't see the need especially at a position that could have had huge value for us. I am not sure if Dennard or Dix will produce but one of those guys would have been my pick. Looking at it though maybe they saw the writing on the wall with Suh and figured if they had an offense so good it could carry the team when they transition on from the Suh and Fairly days. With plans on drafting defense heavy next year. IMO it is a stretch especially with Ebrons hands having been an issue and the already filled out roster at the position. The only TE who played well yesterday was Fauria who should have had a td if the one bad pass from Stafford hadn't screamed over his head.

Yup important to note too....when they wanted a back shoulder jump ball in the red zone who did they turn to? Ding ding ding....fauria. you mean to tell me its been 6 months and ebron hasn't learned that route yet? Im guessing he can run that route just fine and they choose not to utilize him.

isn't the NFL always beyond anything in college?

Not always the read option was in college before NFL.

I was just making the point that a lot of players especially WR's and QB's struggle because depending on what they were asked to do in college is night and day compared to the NFL.

I think Ebron will be a huge producer in this offense and I see him doing big things. He really is a big threat to a defense and could play a big role this Saturday against a tough Carolina D that will require a lot of quick hitters to slow down the rush but as suspect as the back of our defense is really is disconcerting. Mathis didn't get tested and Slay played pretty well but the Giants looked like a pickup team that had never met each other and everyone spoke a different language. I mean its really tough to judge.

They are all in the same situation learning a new playbook. Linehans playbook is not even in the same world as Lombardis. Rookies report earliest to camp....hes had the most time in the system. He had more reps in preseason games than fauria. If he cant pick it up then hes not smart. So he have a dumb kid with a slight attitude problem that has a hard time holding onto the ball. Sound like a top 10 pick?

+1 I was one of the first people to say this is why the lions could potentially draft him at 10. One of the few things I ever agreed with lkp on lol. But I don't dwell on potential and rainbows and unicorns. He's here now. ... now produce our you weren't worth the value of the 10th pick.

How long are you going to give the kid to produce?

He will produce, calm the fuck down.

And now for LKP's draft

Ebron-Elite talent that will produce more than Gronk and Graham. Mostly because Stafford will make him better like he did with CJ

Van Noy-Exactly what the D needed. With the new man press going on with Slay and Mathis he will have more than enough time to pressure the qb. Not sack pressures are more important.

Swanson- Best center in the draft, just needs to get stronger

Lawson-perfect slot corner

Reid- Will be perfect replacement for either Suh or Fairley if not both

Jones-Will be better than Broyles (when Broyles was healthy)

Freese- Perfect in his Sr year of college and will be perfect for the lions this season (minus the first attempt)

So youre a fan of the lions and you just picked Eric "match up nightmare" "jimmy graham" Ebron as a top 10 pick in the draft. Then you watch him do little to nothing for the preseason because hes "having a difficult time learning the offense" then you have a point in the game where you have a chnce to line up an UDFA TE ORRRRRRRR said top 10 match up nightmare 1 v 1 on the outside......they go with the UDFA. And you don't understand even a LITTTTTTLE bit why people would label it a luxury pick? Not at all? Really? or you just like to argue? Which one is it?

Truth is the lions did very little to even attempt to look his way the entire game. In the red zone he was a glorified tacking dummy or put on speed out duty. The reality thusfar has been that hes none of the things the homers said hes going to be. He wasn't even being used to clear out defenses which is atleast somewhat useful lol.

Ill give him every week to produce. The first 1.5 months he hasn't. This week he has every opportunity to change that. But ya...sue me....I have expectations of a top 10 pick actually having to produce. Just like I have expectations that a rd 2 WR should produce more than broyles. A rd 2 rb that you trade up for should produce more than Leshoure. A WR you trade picks for should produce more than Thomas. A LT you pick in the top half of rd 1 should be more than a fullback. etc etc etc.

you get it huh? So when he did nothing all preseason and the excuse was "it the fn preseason fn f." and now its game 1 so now its "its only game fn 1 fn imbicile fn f" So what exactly is it they are trying to accomplish?...show the nfl how NOT to use a top 10 draft pick?

Who made excuses for him in preseason?? lol. He made a few nice catches, moved the chains. You're the moron who cried that he better put up Jimmy Graham type numbers in year one lol. Retard.

Game 1...shit. Hughes needs some meds

why would it take him awhile to get him up to speed? Hes been in this offense longer than anyone on the team. This is a brand new offense and rookies reported earlier than anyone else. He should "be up to speed" moreso than anyone else. Im not the one comparing him to jimmy graham like everyone else on here likes to do. How many games does NO have 2 TEs catch more passes than jimmy graham? ESPN has a rookie watch list this year. Theres categories like "fast start" "showed potential" and Ebron was one of the only ones in the "disappointment" category. You guys talk a whole lot about how good Eric "Jimmy Graham" Ebron is....im just waiting to see it. Im sure he will have a couple games this year where he catches like 5 passes for 85 yards and you guys will come on here and say "SEEEEEE, I TOLD YOU!!! rawr, I told you HUGHES youre such an idiot!" and then ill remind you that youd have to be handicapped NOT to get 85 yards in a couple games in this offense.

Meanwhile....at practice....Abdul Ismael Qifftus ISbus Shiek is missing tackle after tackle and cant cover anyone.

Who the hell is comparing him to Jimmy Graham on this board??? Our OC said, and I quote, "We can use him (Ebron) like we used Graham in NO". "Even do a few things differently". You're the one waiting for Jimmy Graham type production right away. You're an idiot....straight up!!

Pfffffffffttttt .......BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! OK!!!

youre assuming a lot. The last 2 weeks alone should be a perfect example of that. We just released a guy we traded up for in the 2nd round and the other 2nd round gem we made inactive.

Well, if they don't work out then they don't work out. Can't cry about it. I'm sure they have plans for Swanson to be the starter after Raiola retires. OR maybe there will be a C in next years draft that they fall in love with and can't pass up. IT HAPPENS.
