Bentley ACL

11th in PPG, yards allowed.

Didn't say it was good defense. It was decent.

You don't make the playoffs 5 out of the last 5 years (Super Bowl win included) with "bad" players. Sorry.

But average in most categories and poor in others (turnovers). Pass rush was poor.

2012 was mainly Aaron Rodgers. They lack talent on defense big time. Have Oline issues. Didn't have a good RB in 2012.

Mayhew hits on more than Thompson. Packers had better coaching and more discipline.

Thompson wins, Mayhew doesn't/hasn't. When Mayhew wins a playoff game, we can compare the two GMs. Until then, it's not close.

By the way, who was responsible for drafting Rodgers???

luck, remember? Thompson didn't want him according to lkp. He had 4 guys over him blah blah blah. Which completely explains why he picked him...right? Or maybe Thompson never expected him to drop that far so didn't have him on his radar.....so when he did fall that far he lept at the chance to get value. Weird how actually getting value works in your favor in this league. Instead we give it away all the time.

I think it's silly for someone to say that Green Bay has "bad" players when they have made five straight playoffs. I'd rather have their "bad" players than the crap we've had to watch the past decade.

They've just got the best qb in the league, SOMETIMES that will get you to the playoffs every year. Don't forget he has played 3 underwhelming qbs twice every year.

Nelson, Jennings, Finley, Jones, Cobb, Hawk, Woodson, Burnett, Clay... Just plain bums. They would never play for the Lions.

There is 0 doubt that Rodgers is a HUGE piece of the Packers pie. But to say they have bad players, and are just some product of fortune to go to the playoffs five straight years is wrong and being a Lions homer.

It's a fact Thompson tried to trade. And he wanted Marcus Spears but Dallas took him.

Weird it wasn't a need pick like you clamor for all the time. Ebron was great value.

Burnett is average. Woodson declined and is gone. Hawk sucks. Finley had two good years, like Pettigrew.

Thompson has hits too. But I listed a ton of misses. And they lack talent on defense now because of it.

Those receivers would probably be average elsewhere

Jennings had a down year in Minnesota last year. We'll see what Jones does this year. Nice TD grab Week 1. Like I said he has hits (at guard/WR, eventually Lacy/Starks) but Thompson has a ton of misses too.

When judging Mayhew, don't just list the misses. There was a ton of hits, good free agents (even for only 2-3 years) and trades. And even guys like Houston the trade and first re-signing was good. Made sense to re-sign him again but it didn't work out with injury. Avril franchise didn't work out but based on his 2010/2011 seasons and then 2013 with Seattle it was the right call at the time.

It's all a lot of smoke until Mayhew does what Thompson does as a GM. The proof is in the pudding. I don't agree whatsoever that it's all Aaron Rodgers. But even if I did agree with you, at the end of the day, the results speak for themselves. You can make excuses about how one guy carries the team, division sucks, whatever. They have been substantially more successful as a franchise than Detroit. You don't get lucky and make 5 straight playoffs.

You get lucky by getting Rodgers when you didn't really want him. And then have him pretty much carry the team. But we'll agree to disagree on that.

We'll see if Mayhew's talent shines with more wins with this better coaching. So far so good. Bring on Week 2.

OFCOURSE he tried to trade. that's what GOOD GMs do when a whole bunch of value drops in their laps and they alredy have a HOF qb at the position. How many times has MAyhew traded down to gain value? a 3rd TE that we haven't even used yet on gameday isn't great value. Te in the top 10 in the first place is absolutely ridiculous. When you already have 2 on the field its even more ridiculous. When/If they don't produce its evn mostest more ridiculous. Basically the opposite of being valueable.

That's the same draft where the Lions took Mike Williams....their 3rd top 10 WR in a row.

Ebron was BPA. Great value. Production is coming.
