Why laugh? LKP might be a lunatic, but he's dead nuts on this one. How on Earth have the Lions neglected the defense? Look at their drafts the last 5 years and tell me that. They may have neglected the secondary to a degree, but as a whole, they are trying to build a defense.

2011- Titus and Leshoure. Fairley was a decent defensive pick.
2012- no defensive starters. lolBroyles 5th string WR luxury pick over defensive help.
2013 - 1 starter and 1 future starter. ansah and slay. decent defensive draft
2014 - 1 defensive starter drafted. An OLB. picked a TE in the top 10 and a back up center over defensive help.

We will be fielding practically the same defense as last year...delmas and ihedigbo are a wash. Van Noy is an upgrade. No real upgrade on the defense prior to that since Fairley was drafted in 2011. Ansah was a great pick and has huge upside....but has not produced more than Avril has....to date he has not been an "upgrade" at the position. The fact were talking about 2 and mayyyyybe 3 players being upgrades on the defense drafted in the last 4 years.....for me that equates to neglecting the defense. Especially when you are picking the likes of Broyles, Leshoure, back up centers and tight ends over defensive starters.

Get it through your head that just because they didn't draft players YOU wanted that it was a failure. Swanson was a need and Ebron was a need. This team got a major facelift and it's not even close to the same. Shake your fn head...

"Why draft a quarterback if you're not gonna give him the talent to succeed. Way to go mayhew now stafford has kris Durham as his second option." Now let's get something straight. Mayhew has fudged up some picks I will say that. But he still has to get stafford weapons or else we'll wind up like the last three weeks of last year again. Kris Durham shouldn't be on the field. Our two wideouts lined up shouldn't be ogle tree, Durham, and fauria. I never want to have to watch that dog shot again. Let's see how the season turns out. The defensive front 7 looks like it could be outstanding. And the back 4 has a lot of questions. Maybe a few corners will impress. Who knows? Let's wait and see.

Yep!! I didn't like the Ebron pick, but i get it. You said it yourself..players like Durham and Ogletree starting on this team was a joke. Getting players like Tate and Ebron were major needs. No more excuses for Staff now though....those are out the window.

This is also how I felt. I think people get too wrapped up in what they wanted and can't realize that a team can have multiple needs.

Getting players like Tate and Ebron were major needs. No more excuses for Staff now though....those are out the window.

I disagree with this though. The majority of people that have made excuses so far for Stafford will still keep making them. People hate to be wrong, especially on a message board!! THE TERROR!!

People argue relentlessly that Pettigrew is a good TE. So when you resigned him that should have squashed the TE need. Ebron is not a top 10 talent. If you look at the history of the NFL....hes no where close to the talent level of other top 10 TEs. It was bad value and they reached for a need. I on the otherhand agreed with the need....because I think Pettigrew sucks ass....which makes mayhew an idiot for resigning him if your target was ebron.

We say the same thing about Stafford year after year after year.....last year was supposed to be the year he broke out cause now we had Bush. Now its this year cause we have tate and ebron lol. Fool me once doesn't apply to some of you. Ill wait and see if he every capitalizes on all these weapons and changes we make specifically for him to be better. Until then ill assume hes just an average qb making too much money that locks on to calvin or dumps down.
