Brett Kavanaugh

In my opinion, Kavanaugh's career itself should disqualify him for this post, as his career advancement has clearly been due to political favors; working on the Clinton impeachment and in the Bush White House authorizing torture doesn't make him "Supreme Court material" and the rest of his career moves all stem from the payback he got from his GOP buddies for doing their dirty work.

I know among SOME people, having that opinion makes me "a stupid idiot" and "a turd" but I had the same opinion of Kagan, who was nowhere near as sleazy as Kavanaugh, but still was getting in more due to political favoritism (Larry Summers was a big supporter of hers); she was not Supreme court material based on her record.

What's really crazy though, is - beyond all that - which incidentally almost NO GOP senators, and even most Democrats don't have any qualms about - he could PROBABLY get away with all the sexual abuse issues if he would just admit he was young and made some mistakes.

...instead he's made these defiant and also clearly false statements about what an angel and virgin he was all his life, looking like a sap on talk shows, dragging his wife into it, etc. destroying any credibility he had left and almost single-handedly creating this whole shit show.

An obvious lack of judgment on his part. Not very... judge-like.

Why accept blame and get the job when you can deny it all and get the job? Seems cut and dry to me.

ah... yeah. I always forget that "humility," "personal responsibility," and "honesty" get you nowhere in DC.

Whew..glad you picked up on that. Someone might have missed it.

I meant that to sound snarky as I typed it but realized it's probably the truth, so without satire, thanks.

There might be some millennials who would assume there have been camera phones forever; some others just might not stop to think about what you said in the process of focusing on their partisan talking points.

On the other hand, it could be that snarkyness was appropriately called for.

At first glance of her name I thought it was Gene Simmons wife but that is actually Shannon Tweed according to Google. I've never heard of Franken's accuser outside of that story. She should probably do Playboy again to stay relevant.

Who should do a Playboy spread again - Shannon Tweed or LeeAnn Tweeden? They've both done it before; I think at least twice for both, too.

Over/under on how long before this Cory Booker guy runs for president?

I will be surprised if he gets confirmed after today. Trump will tweet that he is pulling it, and then say it is really unfair what the Democrats did to this great man.

I can't decide if it helps or hurts the Republicans position in that none of them are speaking but they're instead deferring all their time to this prosecutor while the Democrats are all speaking on their own separately. Might not matter at all, just kind of curious.

He likes to play the Alpha and that would show him admitting that Democrats beat him. That would actually surprise me a lot.

I don't understand why the most recent girl kept going back to parties where girls get drugged and gang-raped. I don't know...I think if I saw this once, I wouldn't go back.

Love it!

"Look here toots, these guys are gonna gang rape chicks at parties. It's just what they do. And we're gonna nominate em to be Supreme Court justices. That's just what WE do. The real problem here is why yer going to the parties in the first place. That's what we need to focus on."

*leans back in chair and chomps on cigar*

is that how you read that? seems pretty stupid, even for a stupid person. I don't want to speak for Tom but it seems obvious he's making the same point I made in an earlier post, which is, that if you believe someone would continuously attend high school gang rape parties repeatedly until they became a victim themselves, you're an idiot. I know you want to believe the worst about rich people but anyone who thinks these kinds of things happened 10 times to a dozen or so women, and nobody said anything about it for 30 years - like attendees or victims, particularly attendees who didn't participate in the gang rapes, you're just being foolish. This third accusers story is so outrageous, only an idiot, desperate to believe the worst about someone they disagree with ideologically would actually believe it.

Why is it so difficult to imagine why a teenager might do something stupid several times, only gradually figure out how bad the situation is, or not figure it out until it's too late, and then not want to talk about it ever, and then 30 years later feel compelled to talk about it when something really important is on the line?

You!

Only a stupid turd idiot libtard jerk would believe that.

do you have evidence that these are clearly false statements, other than the fact that you disagree with almost every position he has? Based on the evidence available, I think he's clearly the more credible of the two.

I'm not even saying that's how it must have played out. I just don't get this take that there's no way the accuser's story could be true and only an idiot would believe it.

it's not. what's difficult to imagine is that "something stupid" would be something so outrageous, everyone involved, even teenagers would show that level of poor judgment.
