Burleson breaks arm in car accident

Oh FFS! Can this train wreck of a team go more than a week without something bad happening or someone doing something stupid, wtf is he doing out at 2:25 in the f'en morning anyway, don't these guys have to get up early and report to practice during the week?

Stupid ass lions

Not just the action, but the time of day...errrr...night.

WTF is an NFL player doing out at 2:25am on a Tuesday during the season? Why was he the one getting the pizzas? He couldn't pay a delivery kid a hundred dollar tip to deliver at that hour? Or one of the people who were going to have the pizza with him?????

He should have better smarts than to be out at that hour during the season, IMO. How late did he plan on staying up? Was there no practice scheduled for today?

It isn't bad luck when these guys do stupid things like this, it is guys not showing responsibility and being a bad teammate. Yes, I know Nate does a ton of good for the team and is a helluva teammate on the field and in the locker room, but this was completely avoidable and should never happen during the season.

Your joking right? Stupid to get pizza? Not allowed to have a life? It's an accident the clock doesn't matter. You act like players should be locked up in a bubble cell only allowed to come out to entertain you.

I dont think they have practice after a win until wednesday. Usually tuesday is a film review day at best. 2:25 is a pretty average time to be up for me so I guess I dont really see the problem. It sucks that this team is cursed but at the same time I think Broyles will step up but they need to bring somebody else in. Maybe Gordon although I doubt it. Maybe call up the giants and offer them something. Bring back Willis. Tons of options none of them as good as what we just lost.

Not sure I agree with that last statement. Broyles, I think, can be better than Burleson.

Granted, Nate is a leader on and off the field, and that won't be replaced. But he's out what, 4-6 weeks? He will still be on the sideline doing his thing, just like he did last season with the leg break.

Broyles is Burleson 10 years ago. Equivalent talent, but younger. He just needs to stay healthy.

However, I do agree that you have to make a move at this point. Gordon would be a great option. Willis would be acceptable to me.

Kris Durham impressed me with the catch this last weekend, so maybe it's time for him to step up, but I have very little faith there.

I hope they don't panic and make a move just to make one, see last year with Thomas.

Amen there. Make the right move. Not any move.

We don't need to give up future draft picks to handle this problem. Broyles is a solid option in Nate's spot, and is the long term guy there anyway.

Make a move that makes sense, not one for the sake of making a move.

Per RotoWorld:

"Sources tell the Lions' official site that the team has talked with "multiple teams this morning" about trading for a receiver.
With Nate Burleson (arm) out indefinitely, Ryan Broyles' knees shaky and Patrick Edwards' (ankle) status unknown, the Lions thin at wide receiver. Josh Gordon and Greg Little are both reportedly being shopped and are possible trade candidates. Contract-year WR Kenny Britt has been phased out of the Titans offense and could also be available. Even if Broyles' knees hold up and he seizes the slot position, the Lions will need an outside receiver."

Isn't this why we have Broyles? Everyone thinks he's so damn terrific. It's better than losing a big DT like Chicago just did.

Agreed. I would be far sadder to lose Fairly or Suh than I am Burleson. We have options there. we lose the big guys for any extended period, and this season goes south fast.

I am not against Britt but I think he needs a change of scenery although I dont think he is actually that explosive. But next to CJ he would get open more often I am sure. I think Gordon would be decent although also as mentioned a headcase but they will want way to much for him after his most recent game which isnt his norm. We desperately need help regardless of the Burleson injury we needed help because we have cj and broyles and then nobody. Bring in somebody with a little bit of talent and chuck Durham and Edwards out to pasture.

I can't say I haven't tried to grab a pizza when it was sliding. I'm curious where he gets his pizza, 2am on a Monday night? I don't know any pizza joints open that late. Did anyone verify it, police came and saw pizza on his seat? Seems fishy.

They wont put him on IR since the short term designation is already used by Owens. So if they want to bring someone in the have to cut someone. Also Ink I agree that Broyles can be better than Burleson but we are going to be asking him to be right now instead of bringing him back slowly which I think was the plan. I still wouldnt mind seeing us trade a 3rd or 4th for Gordon and cut Durham or Edwards. I dont like the idea of using a pick that high to acquire a secondary option but they need to figure out if this team is good enough to get by or if they want another explosive guy. Also a guy like Gordon was a number 1 with a terrible qb and no other weapons and put up decent numbers last year and so far this year so with Stafford and other pieces he could have a nice season. Maybe something along the lines of Fitz, Boldin and Breaston back in the Cards superbowl days.

You're right, he didn't do anything that was selfish in any fashion, didn't let down the team at all by putting himself in this situation.

I know he is an individual and is free to do as he chooses, but when someone is part of a team and that team is actively engaged in its mission, whether military, sports, business, or other type of team, you have a responsibility to not put yourself in a situation where guys on that team will question your decision. If this same thing happens at 2:25 PM, there is no questioning his actions, but at that hour it is absolutely right to question it.

The time makes me wonder. Where do you get a pizza at 2 in the morning.

But as far as grabbing it? We've all tried to catch something fall off the seat in a vehicle. And this guy is a WR. He's been conditioned his whole life to catch things. I have to imagine catching a falling object is more natural to him than taking a piss.

I think it's too early to give up on Edwards. He's got the talent. He beat out some good players for his spot.

Durham, I have seen two eye popping catches out of, and a whole lot of "Shouldn't have eaten that popcorn".

You bring in a guy like Gordon and cut Durham, I'm fine with it. To be honest, I haven't seen enough from Spurlock to justify keeping him as a return man either.

Oh, and just to add to that thought, if you can get a guy like Britt for a 7th rounder, I say do it. He's flashed top level talent. He's a free agent at the end of the year. Bring him in, let him play, and if he can't get his head out of his ass, you wash your hands of him at the end of the season and go hunting a replacement.

So many people jumping to conclusions. I have not heard of Burleson being any sort of drug user or getting into trouble with the law. I go out for food all the time after midnight and I dont do drugs or drink and drive so to jump to conclusions is just ignorant. If he was drunk he would have been arrested also he may have gotten the pizza earlier in the night and in the process of driving home late at night it started to fall. He could have been tired which can effect your response time worse than being drunk. There are a million things that could have happened but everyone wants to say it was definitely this or that (negative connotation inserted).
