Burleson breaks arm in car accident

The time makes me wonder. Where do you get a pizza at 2 in the morning.

But as far as grabbing it? We've all tried to catch something fall off the seat in a vehicle. And this guy is a WR. He's been conditioned his whole life to catch things. I have to imagine catching a falling object is more natural to him than taking a piss.

Pettigrew would have bobbled the pizza and dropped it out the window!

Word is the arm requires surgery and this may end Nate's season. Which also likely means it ends his time in Detroit since he's a free agent after this season.

Short term IR was never an option, but this may mean he goes to IR for the year, and we don't cut anyone in a deal.

I've done it, grabbed at a falling pizza it happens. If it was the weekend I could see a place open that late but Monday night, must have been a place like a convenient store that made it because he was Nate Burleson. All I can think of..

Oh, and just to add to that thought, if you can get a guy like Britt for a 7th rounder, I say do it. He's flashed top level talent. He's a free agent at the end of the year. Bring him in, let him play, and if he can't get his head out of his ass, you wash your hands of him at the end of the season and go hunting a replacement.

Hadn't thought of it like that but its not a bad idea. He really doesnt cost anything at that point. They want him gone and he comes in a has more skills then whoever he replaces. More size then Edwards and just better flat out then Durham. Spurlock is also a cuttable guy although he has consistently made smart plays which is all I ask of my return men.

So many people jumping to conclusions. I have not heard of Burleson being any sort of drug user or getting into trouble with the law. I go out for food all the time after midnight and I dont do drugs or drink and drive so to jump to conclusions is just ignorant. If he was drunk he would have been arrested also he may have gotten the pizza earlier in the night and in the process of driving home late at night it started to fall. He could have been tired which can effect your response time worse than being drunk. There are a million things that could have happened but everyone wants to say it was definitely this or that (negative connotation inserted).

Nah motown, if he was at Jack in the Box at 2am, it would make perfect sense. They are open 24 hours a day.

People are questioning this report because it was a pizza. None of us can figure out where you get a pizza at that time of day.

Although, in the Detroit area, there has got to be at least one pizza joint with 24 hour service. I just don't know where. And to be honest, I wish there was a place in my small town. There are times you just can't sleep and you want a slice.

I think it's too early to give up on Edwards. He's got the talent. He beat out some good players for his spot.

Durham, I have seen two eye popping catches out of, and a whole lot of "Shouldn't have eaten that popcorn".

You bring in a guy like Gordon and cut Durham, I'm fine with it. To be honest, I haven't seen enough from Spurlock to justify keeping him as a return man either.

But hes a midget that gets jammed at the los more often then not. Mike thomas 2.0

Yep, at this point that is true. He is a very raw talent that has to learn how to shed those jams and get himself out of trouble, but when he gets in open field, he's lethal.

I say it's too early to give up on him. There are other faces on this roster that we can easily say goodbye too first.

I doubt think those come into play either but it could have just been a normal car accident and Pizza was his excuse..

But this happens a lot, baseball or football guys who hurt themselves in, say Basketball, and make up an excuse - because in their contract it says don't play Basketball.

I remember when Brian Griese injured himself "tripping on his dog" -- until we found out it was actually Griese tumbling down the driveway before knocking himself unconscious. At a TO party.

The Lions franchise must've seriously pissed somebody off years ago.

Wtf are we gonna do, Hughes?! You gotta admit, Burleson was playing good football.

Do they roll with Broyles or go get someone immediately?? They have to get somebody regardless but do they make a major move?

Willis will probably be their first move. I didn't like the way broyles looked to be honest....didn't look explosive/healthy to me.

This team is so dumb. They should have taken a WR in Round 2 instead of Darius Slay. Oh look at me, I'm talking in hindsight and bashing the Lions So dumb. They should have known Burleson was a bad driver from the scouting reports. Screw you Shack Harris and Brian Xanders.
