Coaching Search Recap

To be fair Leinhart was drafted 10th overall. But that was before Whisenhunt got there.

That's true. But like you said, Whisenhunt didn't draft him. Also, I didn't watch Leinart play enough for me to know too much about him, but I'd guess he greatly benefited from the talent at USC during his time there. That probably helped him get drafted at #10, especially since the old CBA was still in place, pushing teams to draft "big" positions, since they didn't want to give a lot of money to "lesser" positions.

What's his nuts from Baltimore won years ago. I also don't credit their OC or QB coach etc, because the offense sucked as far as Tebow goes. If he worked with the running game then I'll give him credit. Otherwise he just happened to be there..not sure I like Wisenhunt myself, don't know much about him. There was a stretch when Denver's defense were scoring defensive touchdowns left and right.

You're suggesting Denver has one of the greatest if not thee greatest defense of all time? And a Jamal Lewis level runner? And it is the era of inflated passing. You should score zero points with Tebow. You have to have the balls to chuck out everything you have put together and start from scratch like a peewee team. That's one thing our team could use less ego. I think last year was the year for good coaching hires. Those out there now don't excite me. But at this point I think anything is better than Schwartz.

Yes Leinhart was a reach, no doubt. But the fact they couldn't get anything out of him scares me. Generally guys who sit behind HoF quarterbacks develop. If he's getting credit for what he can do for Stafford by what is being done with Rivers, I think McCoy has a bigger hand in that.

I'm suggesting that Denver's team that year was all about defense and rushing. Not throwing. Defenses played the run and the offense still stunk.

Here's also what scares me:

In 2012, Whisenhunt guided the Cardinals to their first 4-0 start since 1974, when the franchise was coached by Don Coryell in St. Louis. The Cardinals proceeded to lose 9 straight games and in week 14 were blown out by the Seattle Seahawks 58-0. The losing streak finally ended the following week with a 38-10 victory over the Detroit Lions.
On December 31, 2012, Whisenhunt was fired after 3 straight non-playoff seasons. Rod Graves, general manager at the time, was also relieved of his duties.

In 2013 they were a 10 win team and just missed the playoffs! With Carson Palmer's corpse! No one sees this?

Not at all. I have no issues with anyone excited about Whisenhunt. Of course he has positives and even the negatives I have presented are best guess scenarios or open to debate. I'm not sold and I especially do not like the relationship between Mayhew and Whisenhunt since I am not a Mayhew guy. Another close friend of Mayhew's was head scout Shack Harris and is still on the job despite being behind some of the worst moves for the organization IMO.

IM not excited about whisenhunt.....I just think hes one of the only viable options left unless you want to go with an unproven college guy like James Franklin. I did know about whiz's relationship with mayhew.....but since were forced to keep mayhew my thought was bringing another guy in that can actually have a voice in the room with mayhew would help limit some of the dumb mike thomasesque decisions he made....not accentuate them. But I can see your point. Shack harris I agreed with you about that 2 years ago and I still agree with you til this day.....I just hope the whiz/mayhew relationship doesn't effect the franchise like that moving forward if that's the direction we go.

Okay Mitch. The point is is that the guy got Tebow to the playoffs through whatever means. Now he gets Rivers to the playoffs and its all Whisenhunt?

arians definitely did a better job with the O this year than whisenhunt last year. Palmers first year in either scheme so you cant really say 1 had the advantage. Problem with that being Rivers career was brought back from the dead this year too. I understand youre saying its not all whisenhunt....but you have to give him some of the credit for that. Rivers had a ton of his weapons go down this year to the point where they had a TE and WR starting and I never heard of them before. Allen, Woodhead had strong first seasons and MAthews career was resurrected from the dead after being labled a draft bust for the first 4 years he was here.

I credit ARI moreso for their defense to be honest.....imo that's the reason they almost went to the playoffs.....I don't think anyone was really scarred by their offense.

It's a wait and see thing Hughes. I just hope we don't zero in on this guy soley because of Mayhew, and I think Mayhew wanted to hire him last year when he got fired from the Cards. Other viable candiates:

If you like Defense: Zimmer
If you want John Gruden: Hire Jay -- John will have his fingerprints all over the team
If you like Discipline on O hire Greg Roman
If you want a non retread Mahlzahn or Franklin
If you want a god Dungy or Cowher but they don't always work out.
If I could wave a magic wand Dungy.

No one is scarred by Arizona's O but they already had a good D. Arizona's offense was good though and steadily improved under Arians.

I have to give the majority of the credit to McCoy...Woodhead is a prime example of fitting your scheme to your players. I haven't seen that from Whisenhunt, but of course who knows its all speculation, maybe Whisenhunts behind the whole thing?

One thing I know I have had enough of guys who lose 9 in a row and miss the playoffs every year.

The key to being a "consistent franchise" is fixing Stafford. We need an offensive guy. Zimmer is good but hes not a miracle maker....he wouldn't do shit for this defense. Not enough to make a impact....theres too many holes.

Roman and franklin would be interesting options.

Im not big on dungy or cowher.

I just hope to god were not left with Caldwell.....im telling you ....I don't think a lot of Head coaching candidates think the lions is the best job they way the analysts do. Analysts see that the lions have all the pieces to win now and a qb that can gets us there. Candidates see that they cant rebuilt, cant leave their mark, and are "stuck" with Stafford being their guy or else they end up fired. Whoever the coach is.....if he comes in an Stafford fails.....Stafford and that coach are gone. Its like Schwartz dated Stafford and they broke up and now youre dating Stafford but all Stafford keeps talking about is Schwartz lol.

you have to admit san diego had more pieces lol. Whisenhunt trying to make a winner out of fucking benie wells wasn't going to happen lol.

That is why I think O'Brien went with Houston. He's got his pick of a new quarterback and all the toys. There is definitely two ways to see it though you can make a case for Detroit but you have to love Stafford.

SD has a decent team. They weren't expected to do much. Whisenhunt may be best suited as a coordinator though. He's got a win loss record of 45 and 51. The year they went to the Super Bowl he was 9 and 7! and he has only 1 10 win season as a HC.

2007 8-8
2008 9-7
2009 10-6
2010 5-11
2011 8-8
2012 5-11

Caldwell looks like he's animatronic on the sidelines. I once watched him go a whole 2 minute timeout without blinking.

already a breaking story that their open to trading the #1 pick lmao.....I like Obrien :/ How much is his buyout from Houston?

lmao. ill srsly hate the lions if we end up with him :/ makes me scarred that dungy was talking nice about us...makes me think his homey Caldwell has a shot.

I hope they brought him in to just to ask him if he thinks Dungy would ever coach again.
