Fairley demoted to second team defense

Of course you don't answer the question..Let's just take a sure TD off the board so our QB can get one more try :lmao:

I never said that. I said it's a reason the offense had zero points. It's still good for the Lions. One of many reasons they had zero second half points. Edwards/Durham playing alot is another. Peterson playing well on Calvin. 5 drops and a batted pass is another. Burleson not getting YAC is another. Blocked FG on a good drive is another. Fumble on the handoff is another. Pressure allowed is another.

The least of the reasons, the lowest of the low is Stafford. He did his job. +1.5 rating. 66% 2 TDs

He's been dancing around it the entire time.

I'm not dancing around anything. Mitch as usual is being an idiot taking one thing I said and making it something completely different.

It was a good thing for the Lions. Of course you don't take that away from us. However, it was one of many reasons they scored 0 offensive points in the second half. I listed the others above.

So the offense didn't score in 6 opportunities but BAM, the 7th one is a winner?

Ya.

Stafford is the highest paid qb in the nfl this year. He played like a top 16 qb last year which got his entire coaching staff fired. Him not playing like hes paid is the single most reason the lions are middle of the pack. Even if he was paid like a top 16 qb instead of the best qb in the universe then we could at least build a team around him. But we can't cause mayhew overreacted like he always does and extended and restructured the shit out of staffords contract prematurely... to the point of ridiculousness. So now we are left with a shell of a team and are stuck talking about how Bush was out for 2 quarters so that's why we lost or calvin had a hurt pinky for half a game or waddle stubbed his toe etc etc etc. Staff plays like hes paid and were in the playoffs and not talking about any of this nonsense.

And you're wrong again....as usual. Not all on Stafford. TEAM effort on why they never made the playoffs.

He is paid so much this year during to restructuring if I'm not mistaken. As far as guaranteed contract doesn't he barely break the top ten?

9th. Unless you count guaranteed money per year then he's #1 by a fair margin. For instance of Kaep's $114 mil only at little over $2 per year is guaranteed, Flacco $4, Manning $3. The second highest is Rodgers at $10. Stafford is over $13 mil per. No use arguing if Stafford sucks he's with us until 2018. He's on the Jimmy Shorts 2011 payment plan. This is what you get when you have a president signing contracts who drives his towncar drunk through the kids potato sack race at the company picnic. Not exactly a smart decision maker.

ya hes way up there in guaranteed money. Smart move to give someone that much money that had 2 out of 3 years of injuries and 0 playoff wins...real smart.

Stafford in the 2nd 1/2 of that game

1st drive Stafford fumbles at the Lion's 7 directly leading to an AZ FG
2nd drive: Stafford 0-3 and 0 yards
3rd drive: Stafford runs for 1 yard and 0-1 passing
4th drive: Stafford 5-5 for 42 yards
5th drive: Stafford 0-2
6th drive: Stafford 3-5 for 26 yards

Totals: 8-16 passing for 68 yards and a fumble?

There were 5 drops and a batted pass. The incompletes sometimes Stafford made the play. And the 6th drive he completed on 3rd and 4th down. Burleson didn't do his job.

And Staffords contract is much less than what other people are getting. And it's spread over 5 years which is very smart. And restructuring Stafford got us Tulloch, Durant, Wright, Houston back in 2011 and room in 2012 for Backus back, Hill back, Levy restricted, Sammie Lee Hill restricted, Avril franchise(right call at the time) Tulloch etc. Much needed restructures due to the old CBA.

The new deal is very smart and cheap. 27.5 signing bonus spread over 5 years is nothing huge. And year 4 and 5 the base salary isn't guaranteed. 2015 is the last year we are really tied to him if you look at the contract. Year 5 and 6 on the old deal he was getting huge base salaries due to the old CBA, so they just moved into a signing bonus so they could spread it out. He was still owed that money so they made the best of it with a signing bonus. You'd have to understand NFL contracts to get this, which you don't.

And Lewand handles the contract structures and is the cap guy anyway. So you blaming Mayhew just shows you people have no fucking clue what is going on.

So the restructure got us a bunch of guys who aren't currently here. Awesome.

But they got to the "true playoffs" and won the "true Super Bowl" with those guys! It's all about "true wins" and "game winning plays"....not what actually happened!

Needed at the time. You keep a playoff team together. That was the goal prior to 2012. Those players helped a ton in 2011. And Tulloch,Quin, Bush, Levy are still here. When you think of Suh and Staffords restructure, think of those guys. And think about Lewand structuring so big numbers hit when the cap rises. Genius.

And yet all of that genius maneuvering has the Lions sitting dead last in the NFL with available cap space, getting nothing done with your franchise player, and having one playoff appearance under the regime. Pure genius.

We are not dead last anymore. We made plenty of moves this offeason with Tate, Ihedigbo and the draft. Use all the space you can. Old CBA is still the reason. Handled Suh's 22 million number beautifully and still can re-sign him with a winning season. It was a great job by the front office.
