Game 14: Lions @ Bills Thread

Patriots have drafted a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round 4 times since Brady was the starter.

Awesome! And where are they now? One guy is collecting zillions while he sits on the sidelines and the rest are backup QBs or sitting at home. I know everyone wants us to be the Patriots but we're not...

Yep, hanging out with Ameer, Alex Carter, Swanson, i'm sure Teez will be joining them soon.

It's a good idea in practice but you win a bunch of SB you can afford to use a high pick on a QB.

I think that?s the key....they can do it because they ALREADY have a team that can compete for a SB so using a 2nd or 3rd once every 3-4 years on a QB is a no brainer.

We simply don?t have the talent to draft backups. If we draft a QB in the first 2 rounds it?s to be a starter or at the very least compete for that job within a year.

The Pats did it as insurance and future trade pieces. Those fuckers are smart!

Perhaps Paul Pasqualoni is just using him wrong.

Possibly....but we play a lot of man. He sucks at that. He doesn?t seem to be more than average in zone coverage either.

Not really any other way to use a CB.

He?s on a rookie deal so it wouldn?t be a big surprise to see him back next year. Maybe he?ll make a jump then. Who knows.

Try him out at Safety. I wouldn't give up on him just yet...

Agreed. He's still on a 2nd round rookie deal. He turns 23 in 2 weeks. Still has upside but something tells me his days are numbered.

Hopefully he has a Slay like turn around.

I like that option better than keeping him at corner.
Wish they would do it over the final two games, but I highly doubt they will kick Quin out the final two.

Back up safety, back up corner....shouldnt matter. Point is he should not be on the field lol. Walker and Diggs next year...potentially draft a 3rd rd safety as depth.

Corner is a mess....need to cut everyone on our roster but Slay. Then draft a 1st or 2nd rd corner...play him at dime. Also get a FA cb as your #2. Have fun Quin...

The easy way out for Quin will probably get a cb in either FA or Draft...and will keep Lawson to play dime. If/When this happens its proof we have a gutless piece of shit GM that has no idea what hes doing or how to evaluate talent.

If Detroit Lions get a top-five pick, what position should they take?

LSU CB Greedy Williams (sitting out bowl game): Williams is one of the best cornerbacks in the draft and a potential top-five pick. He has unusual size (6 feet 3), excellent play-making ability ? he led the SEC in interceptions in 2017 ? and would be the perfect complement to Darius Slay in the Lions? inconsistent secondary.

Kentucky OLB/DE Josh Allen (Citrus Bowl vs. Penn State, Jan. 1): Ziggy Ansah?s time in Detroit is likely done, and the Lions need an edge rusher more than anything. Allen is big and long at 6 feet 5 and 260 pounds, and he lives in the backfield as both a pass rusher and run defender. The biggest question the Lions will have to answer is whether he can play right end, or if he?d be Devon Kennard?s backup at strong-side linebacker.

If the Lions lose to either Minnesota or Green Bay, it'll mean the team's worst record since 2012 (4-12) and give the team their 11th season of double-digit losses since 2000 From 1930-1999, the Lions only had 12 double-digit loss seasons (although to be fair not every year had a 16-game schedule).

Lions LB @DevonKennard notched Detroit's first sack of the game. He now has 7.0 on the season, a team and career-high. First since Mike Cofer did so in the 1990 season.

Lions LB Jarrad Davis had 7 tackles in the 1st quarter. This marks the 2nd-most tackles in the 1st quarter in @Lions history and most since Ernie Sims totaled 8 in WK 14 of the 2006 season.
Only Bobby Wagner (8 in WK 12) has had more tackles in the 1st quarter of a game in 2018.

In his 139th career game, @Lions QB Matthew Stafford has eclipsed 38,000 career passing yards.
He reached 38,000 career passing yards in fewer games than any other QB in NFL history.
Matt Ryan is the next-fastest QB to 38,000 passing yards, needing 143 games to do so.

Lions WR Andy Jones recorded his 1st career TD, capping a 9-play, 75-yard drive. QB Matthew Stafford is 5-5 for 65 yards and a TD to open the game, good for a perfect QB rating of 158.3

Golladay's career-high 115 receiving yards are the most by a @Lions player in the first half of a game since Calvin Johnson recorded 131 yards on September 8, 2014 vs. NYG.

This is @Lions WR Kenny Golladay @kgxix's 10th game of the season with 50+ receiving yards. This is the most 50+ yard games through Week 15 of a season by a Lions player since Calvin Johnson had 10 such games in the 2015 season.

Lions WR @kgxix Kenny Golladay eclipsed 1,000 yards on the season, the first 1,000-yard campaign of his career. He joins Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate and Marvin Jones Jr. as the only players to have 1,000+ yards with QB Matthew Stafford.
Through his first 25 career games, @Lions WR @kgxix Golladay has totaled 92 receptions for 1,482 yards (16.1 avg.) and 8 TDs.

The only other players in #Lions history to top 90+ rec. and 1,480 yds. in their first 25 games are Megatron @calvinjohnsonjr (2007-08) & Cloyce Box (1950-53).

Lions LB Jarrad Davis becomes the 1 of 3 @Lions LBs, and the 1st since Broderick Thomas in 1994, to finish a season with 85+ tackles and 5.0+ sacks.
Davis is the first one to reach these numbers by Week 15 of a single season.

By throwing a TD pass Sunday, @Lions QB Matthew Stafford has 235 TD passes in his career, tying Drew Brees for the 5th-most TD passes through a player's first 10 seasons in NFL history.

Lions DT @snacks Harrison has 7 games this season with 6+ tackles, the most by any DT in the @NFL and the most he's ever produced in a season.

Since TFLs and stuffs began being tracked by the @NFL in 1994, only 2 DTs have produced a season with 70+ tackles, 8+ TFLs, 8+ stuffs & 3.0+ sacks:
- Damon Harrison Sr. (@snacks) in 2018
- Sheldon Richardson (@SdotRich91) in 2013

Lions LB @DevonKennard (7.0) and DE @RomeoND45 Okwara (6.5) are the first LB/DL combo to each have 6.0+ sacks for the @Lions since the 1995 season, when LB Antonio London, DT Henry Thomas and DE Tracy Scroggins each did so.

PS....FA cb is a mess too. When Mo Claiborne is the highlight of the list....its a sad sad list.
