A massive success? It doesn't matter what they got him for, that's not an excuse for him being a crappy CB. Every time he got burned I don't think the Lions fans were saying, "ah it's okay he's a 6th round value, he's still good." The guy put up bad numbers other than 1 year. He's not a good player, period. The Lions are better off now.

Houston put up good numbers in 2011 and 2012. And was solid in 2010. Get your facts straight.

When he got burnt in 2013, it was mainly due to injury. Hamstring then toe.

The Lions did make the right call due to injury

We will never agree on what good numbers mean. I see Stafford's numbers which are below average at best, and you see them as being ahead of the curve compared to Manning and Brees.

He did better than Brees and Manning through 61. Facts are facts. Let's see if he can match what they did after that now.

Houston was good in coverage in 2011 and 2012. He was better in 2012 than 2011 even. Though everyone sees the 5 picks and assumes 2011 is his best year.

If Houston plays Week 1 or is in TC for a team I'll admit I was wrong. But if he plays well then you have to admit you were wrong on Houston's skillset and talent.

Hes going to be at popeyes making crispy chicken because no one wants an aging veteran that hasn't played good in 3 years and has a multitude of injuries cause hes soft. Which means you were wrong cause every GM sees him for what he is....pretty much worthless.

The timing matters big time if he goes into the season. Houston might not have been able to play a snap anyway. Why keep him if he is not going to play. You get rid of him for cap space if he's not going to play. We'll see if he is in a training camp or playing Week 1.

Slay and Mathis have the talent to get it done. They wanted cap space and it's not a minor toe surgery. Foot injuries are one of the hardest to overcome. Remember the Kevin Jones lisfranc stuff.

Plus Houston doesn't fit the scheme as well. Houston can cover when healthy and has speed but he can't press well. With Slay and Mathis we can move on. None of this means they think Houston sucks. Just that he can't play due to injury and wanted cap room. It's unfortunate for the team but again, the right call at the time

youre comparing an injured toe to linsfranc? lol

Slay and Mathis didn't get it done last year....they both need to progress if theyre going to "get it done." Slay is expected to progress seing that hes about 20 years younger than Mathis. Mathis we have to hope and pray.

Cap room shmap room...mayhew wasted millions yet again....nice job mayhew.

If Mathis plays like he did last year (top 6 in low comp %) and Slay plays like a year 2 player with his skillset and measurable (faster than Gilbert and 6') should, the Lions will be have a good pass defense. Give me 4-6 picks out of all the CBs and I'll be happy too.7 again from LBs and 6 from safeties. The safety and LB coverage is already there. Plus you get blitzes and press to help them out.

Cap room needed for Ebron. Now the Suh deal doesn't hinge on getting anybody signed.

Yeah sure..S didn't get any INT last year so now with one new guy we'll suddenly get 6..:yay:

We got 6 last year. Quin had 3. Ihedigbo had 3 for Baltimore. Delmas had 3. But thanks once again proving you have no clue what happened last year.

Nope it was the worst sentence. As always hughes doesn't have his facts straight.

He had surgery mid May people

The stupidity by you all on this board astounds me. It really does

Your comparisons of a losing qb to sure fire hall of famers astounds me, and your complete disregard of how terrible Houston was all season.

Facts are facts with Stafford. He produced like HOFers did in their first 61. Stafford needs to take that next step like they did. He has the weapons and coaching to do so. If not, we can win with that production similar to the first 61 with more team support. Proper team support.

Houston was hurt since Week 4. Hamstring then toe. If you don't want to factor that in, well that's your problem.

Its a fact that Stafford is a losing qb, twist that into another fucking excuse. And the fact that everybody (besides you) thinks he's an underwhelming qb. Even if Stafford has a huge season this year, it's because of the added weapons he has. If the Lions don't go deep into the playoffs this year it's because Stafford is not who you think he is. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Quit being a pussy and admit Stafford is only as good as his record shows, and that nobody wants Chris Houston because he went from a serviceable cb to one of the worst in the league.

Stafford doesn't have a record. The Lions do.

Houston got injured. That is all that happened to him.

Excuse. If he was that hurt he wouldn't have started that many games.

He played hurt. That's a fact. You can see the 4th Quarter of the Bears game when he gets hurt Week 4. He missed most of that quarter. He was on the practice report injury lists for hamstring. It's not an excuse, it's a fact

Nate missed 16 of the last 32 games. He was an injury cut. He produced on the field per game. And Nate is hurt right now. He reinjured his arm

I get that he was injured during the season and the previous season but he finished healthy..He just didn't play well when he returned.

With a cast on his arm as a WR? Bucs, Ravens and Vikings he was fine. Packers we didn't need him. Eagles game was a blizzard. So just the Giants game really he fell short. But Tate is an upgrade and more durable hopefully. So no worries in cutting Burleson to make room for Tate. 16 games of Tate is an upgrade in itself.

Was his hamstring torn? Every nfl player is sore after every game. So yes, it is an excuse, not an injury.

Pulls can keep you out and slow you down. See Casey Heyward all year. You are way too dumb. I can't even believe it.
