it was easier for them to stay relevent with my parent's generation... they were able to achieve the trappings of middle class life (house in the suburbs, two cars... health insurance) a lot earlier, without taking on much debt - if any, and didn't need advanced degrees to do it. They were therefore a lot more receptive to the siren song of tax cuts, social spending cuts, etc.

unless you think life expectancies are going to increase dramatically, the demographics are going to be against the GOP in the next 15 years.

I heard they were still counting. Don't think either side has claimed victory or conceded yet. JH is 22,000+ ahead so it is looking pretty good for him. The Denver Post has declared Hickenlooper the winner.

If he had lost, he would have been the first Colorado Governor to lose a re-election campaign since the 60's. Probably not now, but the chances of a recount is still around 30-40% or so.

Also would have been the first Republican sweep of the 4 state's constitutional offices in a very long time.

Well, all the precincts yet to report are BLUE so the Post is calling it but that doesn't mean there won't be a recount. CO has always had it's own politics - pro-gun Dem Senators and pro-choice Catholic Gov.

Frontier Democrats are not lockstep in terms of unions, gay marriage or birth control. Live and let live.

Udall lost but Gardner will be voted out in 4yrs anyways. Beauprez ran on 'Hickenlooper hates your guns' because of what he did following the Aurora movie theater massacre.

Don't think folks bought that.
