Khalil Mack on the trade blocks

That's too much of contract plus giving up picks.. Good and still young but dang that's a lot.

Bears trying to soon replicate their "85 SB championship team, but w/o the equivalent of Walter Payton @ RB. That posted, what are the chances of the Packers and Lions finding QBs worthy of replacing Stafford and Rodgers just before they are done? Maybe sacrificing longer-term success for a better shot @ playing in a SB for the very first time ever as a franchise, by acquiring Mack and paying him bigtime should have been more seriously considered. Stafford is in his 10th season as the Lions' starting QB (actually 9 since he was on the DL for part of the '09 and much of the '10 season). Crossing my fingers and toes that doesn't happen again this season.

How many prime seasons does Matt have left in the tank? Four? Six? More? Less?
Good thing that the Lions concentrated on the Oline early in the draft, since they will be playing top 5-10 Ds for a sizable chunk of the season, and having Stafford hung out to dry might result in another '10-like season....but with...gulp...Cassel behind center for maybe a half-dozen or more games.

BTW....I saw that ex-MSU QB Connor Cook was waived by the Raiders yesterday, but although the Lions waived his equally crappy ex-UM counterpart in Jake Rudock, they stiil put him on their practice squad...lolz.

Just mean as far as picks go... those are our last 2 first round picks. The fact you say they'd laugh at that trade kind of proves my point.

The bears gave up 2 first round picks... that's the crap the lions get with their first round picks. Not my fault... blame quinn if you think it's such a joke.

Crap? Davis barely has less than a season under his belt and Ragnow hasn't played a meaningful snap but you're already calling them busts. Why do you even watch?

And even if the Lions put out the same offer, the Raiders are going with the Bears because they're going to have higher draft picks. The Lions are consistently drafting outside the top 15-20.

I hate to disagree with you but a LB who hasn't looked good and a C, imo, should never be drafted round 1. Plus it should be okay to call them out before the arbitrary "3" years.. We do it every draft..

Well of course you CAN do it, I'm just saying you look stupid doing it. I get that it's always the easy take to shit on the Lions and everything they do no matter who is involved but put at least a shred of thought into it.

*edit* Also, Alex Mack thinks your take on centers in the 1st round is silly.

The Bears with Mack, could have a top 5 defense and finish among the top 15 teams in the NFL this season and especially in '19.

A lot of things 'could' happen. I'm just using the last half decade as reference.

I have. We seem to draft well inside the top 5ish. It gets fuzzy after that.. I always thought a C in round 1 is not the right move, especially when the defense is always poor. I hope they become good players I just don't see it. We always have a better offense than defense even with no running game so work on that D sometimes.. I'm tired of 9-7 borderline playoffs.

I refuse to hold Quinn accountable for previous idiot GMs. If he performs the same, then of course I will. I think it's too early to tell. I don't like how bad Davis was in coverage, but it's not like he sat most snaps out like Tabor. I feel like if there was a pick to be upset about, that was it.

I'm also tired of 9-7 seasons. But I'm also tired of inept coaching where 9 man go out on to the field and the head coach doesn't even notice. Quinn fixed that, I'm willing to see how Patricia's first REGULAR season plays out.

It's probably too early to decide on Quinn but so far it's not promising. I get that others will disagree with me but at 52 I'm getting not frustrated but nonchalant - that's probably the best word to describe it. I'm too old now to be frustrated maybe when they win something it'll be a bigger surprise.

Never said they were busts... mitch and tony both agreed that trade idea would be a joke. Those are our last 2 first rd picks. That's the talent you can expect to get with lions first rd picks.... see Laken Tomlinson. Just showing 2 first round picks isn't as big of a deal people are making it out to be. Would you trade Davis and ragnow for khalil mack... answer the question instead of crying "why do you even watch...wahhhhh wahhhh wahhhh."

Stafford was sacked an average of ~3x per game last season, which was in the bottom quarter of all teams in the NFL, and up by 1/2 sack from '16. I figure that the Lions will pick more on D in the purportedly stacked '19 draft, unless their Oline doesn't show improvement this season. If their run game also improves like it should, especially in the redzone, then all the better for his sake.
