Lions trade for Damon Harrison and is voted Lions Defensive Player of 2018

Stafford doesn't make decisions on player personnel lol

I'm sure they take his input and his considerations. I think I remember in an interview him saying essentially what I did, which is why I mentioned it. He prefers having someone with experience to breakdown film and give him pointers since he doesn't have time to watch everything.
Obviously he doesn't have final say, but I think you are fooling yourself if you don't believe that had something to do with the decision.

I'm sure the other part was that Rudock is practice squad eligible while Cassel obviously is not, So if you can keep both, why not. But I have no doubt Stafford would prefer to have Cassel on the sideline of games instead of Rudock.

My Giants fan friend says welcome to our fire sale he's a big load in the middle your run defense just got a whole lot better enjoy

Best trade in Lions history outside of Layne. Quinn with a home run.

Meh..maybe you're right. Input? Ok. Final decision? Not a chance. The Lions went with the best QB available. Unfortunately, Cassel was the guy lol.

At faced value it's very good, let's see how it plays out on the field.

At face value it's stunning really, we just gave up a 5th round pick for the best player at his position in the NFL, and it was a position of need.

I think saying he's the best player at his position is a stretch. Isn't A-A-ron Donald considered to be the best DT in the league?

This guy's list has Harrison at #8. I'm guessing that the guy that he will be replacing is not in the top 40.

I don't know, Brett Perriman for a 5th rounder was pretty good.
And getting what we did for Roy Williams was pretty amazing.

I love Brett Perriman but he really only had two really good seasons as a Lion and you could argue that it was because Herman Moore was drawing more attention.

Roy Williams translated into Brandon Pettigrew (20th overall), Derrick Williams (82nd overall) and Aaron Brown (192nd overall). I'll always value getting a proven player over picks.

I stand by my opinion. Quinn essentially traded Laken Tomlinson for the best interior, run stopping DT in football. If my current condition doesn't go away soon I'm going to have to call a Dr like the commercial says to.

Saying he's 'the best at his position' is a stretch and I'd say inaccurate. He's the best, and it's not really debatable, as a gap plugging run stopper. What puts guys like Donald and McCoy ahead of him on lists like this is their ability to get to the QB. That's not what 'Snacks' does. He often doesn't see the field on 3rd and long for that reason.

I can't believe you just referenced to me in this reply to Dalton, I do my upmost best to keep the politics on the politics board and do not support Daltons interjection of politics on to this wonderful thread about this wonderful trade the Lions just made. This is a fantastic move, who's spot does he take?

Oops Sorry .. Not the last time I will miss something.. Should I go back and delete it like some do on this board? Hey
I did mentioned Neo-cons and righties ;)

For not going heavy on defense during the draft, they?ve managed to acquire some decent pieces in the time since...Harold, Okwara, Harrison

Makes you kind of wonder how close Matty P was to taking that Giants job instead. Clearly liked some of the pieces they had.

The more I read and reread this thread, the more angry I got....
so let me be clear, no more interjections of the politics board over here,
or you will be dealt with. Same goes for a wise ass remark to this post.

Plus they had that week of joint practices with them in preseason. Probably gave them a really good look at their players.

But by that logic if the pick we trade turns in to one of the greatest of all time for the Giants, does that suddenly make this a bad trade?

I agree brewer. You trade for a pick. What that pick becomes is irrelevant because your assuming that's the player the other team would have taken in the same spot.

Proven commodity for a low pick in an area of need. Doesnt' get much better than that.
