Lombarid on Staffords Picks

If you ask the Fauria he would say it was on him. If you ask Stafford he would say it was his fault. Neither will throw the other under the bus!

You can figure it out by the route. If it was supposed to be an out and not a curl, it's Fauria. Curl, it's probably Stafford but could be the spot. I guess we'll never know.

I'll ask him. I'd like to see some of your positions change on Stafford. I know that pick was the backbreaker for most of you.

Fauria went off his hands. That's why it got picked. The Ravens last pick was over Burleson right to Elam(who just happened to be there too). But there was pressure from Dumervil pushing Waddle in Staffords face forcing a backfoot throw.

We didn't play Baltimore last so I'm not sure what you're talking about..

The Ravens last pick I said. So read please. He didn't throw any picks against the Vikings. One great play by Tuck and off Faurias hands after that against Giants. Off backfoot under pressure on last offensive play against Ravens.

maybe we need to start drafting 7'0'' WRs. anyone got Andrew bynums number?

Maybe we need WRs and TEs who run their routes correctly. And I definitely need you to get your head out of your ass and assess the Lions talent properly.

But of course your position is "wanting Mayhew to fail" so you are biased against them and his franchise QB.

I'm the one who brought it up first, "last play for Staff with a chance, first play 4 feet over head". I didn't signify Balt. Might have been NYG. All I know it was 4 feet over his head and not tipped.

Here is your assessment of the Lions talent from another thread:

No WR 2/3 or TE. And only 22 turnovers forced by the defense.

Seems like Mayhew has already failed.

Injuries at Wr. Bad luck with burleson and broyles and Titus. Need more turnovers. Houston back to 2011/2012 form and slay develops.

Mayhew done his job. Talent needs to shine

mayhew has done great at failing. Theres a bottom line in this league....and his is hes a loser. We can argue over his shitty drafts and crappy FA pick ups all day every day....but the bottom line is he loses...a lot.....every year but 1.

We are the most talented team in the league. Get some health for once at wr. Got the coaches. It's Super Bowl talent. Taking mayhew for granted is dumb.

So if no one ever gets injured we might be over .500? Yaaaaa....sounds like a great job of building a team. riiiiiight.

Super Bowl talent. Weapons will be added. Have the qb, rbs oline def line lbs safeties and cbs. This team is stacked

qb - Stafford has won 11 games in 2 years (good qbs win that in 1) and has proven to be an inaccurate qb with horrid footwork, terrible pocket presence and makes too many mental mistakes. This year he decided to add choke artist to his resume blowing 4th quarter leads in most of the games.

rb - We tried to let them carry the load when Stafford began to make too many mistakes. They fumbled and dropped the load away.

wr - everyone not named cj blows

te - fauria is great inside the 20...that's about it. Pettigrew is a fa more than likely seeking top 5 te money.

ol - gave up very few sacks....mainly cause staff got the ball out in 2 seconds. If staff is ever going to get better they will need to prove they can hold up much longer so staff can work his progressions.

dl - cant get to the qb. our best hurry guy is a FA. Jones is a strong candidate for a cap casualty. Fairley plays like 25% of the game. Suh has Jay Z. We have no starter opposite Ansah.

lbs - meh...levy had an awesome year....first time hes played good in his career....do it again. Tulloch is a good 4-3 mlb....tackle machine....hope he doesn't start losing a step.

cbs - all of them played like garbage last year. Slay is the only one on the roster with a future. Bentley is a good dime guy if delmas doesn't knock him out.

s - quin is fine. delmas blows.

k - blows

p - great

7 win talent. wana know how I know that?...cause they ****ing won 7 games.

Schwartz chimes in on our shitty depth:

Schwartz drafted Stafford months after he was hired as the Lions' head coach in 2009, and worked with him the first five years of his career. When Schwartz looked at his downfall in Detroit, especially this season, one of the things that stood out to him was the lack of depth the Lions had on the roster.

“I think it’s a difficult situation there with depth on the team. They are top-heavy on their cap and rightfully so, guys like Calvin Johnson and Matt Stafford and Ndamukong Suh,” Schwartz said. “Makes it difficult to have a lot of depth, and when you get those injuries, which everybody does, it’s going to be a difficult road to hoe when you get to the second half of the season.

“We didn’t do a good enough job in the second half of the season.”

The Lions are running into some of those depth issues now as they head toward free agency and May’s draft at least $6 million over the proposed 2014 salary cap one month before the new league year starts.

The OL thing. Staff wasn't getting rid of it in two seconds because of the oline. Probably relating to his early injuries but he gets rid of it because he has one target in mind and throws it too him. Staff doesn't do progressions, big problem.

correct...but the fact he got rid of it so fast masked a lot of the oline issues. notice he was still never able to step up into the pocket? Guess why? cause eventhough LKPs bible, PFF, scored Crayola as one of the better centers in the league.....he just simply gets overpowered still and pushed back into the pocket way to frequently.

So while I cant complain with the statistical results the oline had.....I really don't know how good they are either cause matt gets the ball out so frikken fast. Ever watch a patriot game.....it seems like brady sits back there forever surveying the field. Its night and day from watching our games.

Stafford is a franchise QB and a winnner. Tons of arm talent, smart, clutch player who can make any throw
RB set records this year. Great YPC from Bush, great receivers
Calvin best in the game
Great redzone TE threat, Pettigrew good dual threat (plus options if he walks)
Very good Oline that can run block and pass block well
Dline can bring pressure with 4, gets a ton of double teams and chips and has game plans by opponents to get rid of it quicker because of them. Tons of hits and hurries with tons of sack potential
LB great year. Tulloch one of the best ILB in the league (and better in coverage than you think due to instincts not speed) and Levy broke out this past year
CB Houston is a number 1 CB based on 2011/2012(needs to get back there) and Slay has the size and speed you need. Just needs the expereicne. Bentely solid nickel.
Safety Quin is a great pro steady pro in coverage and supports the run. Delmas flies around but is good in coverage and just needs work on his run angles
Good punter, good returner, good kick coverage and good long snapper. Just need a kicker

WR 2 to make teams pay and kicker is all this team really needs. Maybe WR 3 if Burleson doesn't take a pay cut.

Stafford is the LION'S franchise QB, he is not a winner, he doesn't appear to be smart based on his decision making, he is NOT clutch and he can make any throw including good throws and terrible ones.
