Miguel Cabrera Triple Crown Watch

this truly is the first time I can ever remember seeing people say "the triple crown isn't that big of a deal" or "not what it used to be"

I don't see how anybody could down play getting the triple crown....just how I can't see how anybody can down play how spectacular Trout has been this year.

We all know Trout had a great year. But you'll here Trout supporters disregard the Triple Crown, if he gets it. Just watch.

Who said that? Is hasn't happened in 45 years so how is it not a big deal?

I think Trouts year has been nothing short of great...but it hasn't been as good as someone else in the American league..period.

Well this is it. Game 162. What a wild ride, hey?

Biggest challenge is still in the homerun category here. Hamilton is batting in the cavern that is Oakland Coliseum...and he has bigger fish to fry than worrying about a HR title today.

Encarnacion is hurt so he won't challenge. Dunn would have to hit 4 today to pull ahead.

Granderson may have a chance to catch up if the Yankees have to play an extra game to decide to AL East. IIRC those would count to regular season numbers. That is quite a long-shot though.

Somehow I think Miggy sits today...just a hunch...

And congrats to Prince for batting .300 for the first time in his career. Watching his development into a more complete hitter has been great to watch.

I shudder to think what he and Miggy will do next year when they have V-Mart hitting behind them and not the First-Pitch Wonder...

ESPN reported yesterday that Tigers personnel said he would play. I have a hunch he gets 3 Ab's and comes out.

Thanks for the all the updates cml!

Looking forward to how this plays out today

Hamilton playing at 3:35
Trout playing at 6:40
Cabrera (potentially) playing at 8:10

IMO, the only ones down playing it are Mike Trout supporters.

Wrong again.

I think Cabrera is MVP, but the TC does not make him MVP. It's more complex than that.

The people who argue it's stupid to use WAR as a lock for MVP should look in the mirror when they say the TC is a lock for MVP.

Wrong. As usual. And for the record, I never said TC locks in the MVP but Cabby is having a better year. That's why he should win..

No, you said the only people downplaying the TC are Trout supporters.

You're wrong.

Maybe not all but you'll get some. And if he has it in the bag before game time and doesn't play, like Leyland said - someone will use that as a way of making him have less of a season.

Oct. 3 at 4:24PM From Jim Leyland on Miguel Cabrera. "I'll keep it real simple. He's in the lineup and I'll leave it at that".

Hamilton has to homer twice in his last 2 or 3 ABs. If Cabrera goes 0-1 tonight Trout would have to go 6-6 to pass him. Trout will have a couple ABs before the Tigers play, my bet is that Cabrera starts and gets at least the 1 AB.

Its going to be near impossible for Trout to pass Miguel in average.

The Rangers are up 5-1, Hamilton might get 6 ABs if they continue to score runs.

If yanks tie orioles tonight, they have a playoff game tomorrow. That would mean 2 games to try and get 4 homeruns for granderson in the bandbox. I would say thats far fetched, but it is yankee stadium.

The Red Sox are just going to lay down. I just can't imagine them winning today.
