Mortensen reporting Suh to Dolphins

The fact that we declined his option and now this is the focus should tell you all you need to know about our front office.

Yep, especially missing so many games last season and his career. I wouldn't sign him at all..

Nope you read it right. That was the last resort but hey apparently the front office brain trust were going to give him $XXX + 58 what's an extra $2 million? Another Reggie Bush sign and cut?

So, now they should match it, and he'll still go to Miami? Suh wants out of Detroit, gotta draw the line somewhere.

Completely agree. Sign mosely and another mid level FA and a 1st or 2nd round dt. I don't trust Fairley at all.

What they should do is irrelevant at this point. What they will do is overpay to sign Fairley and watch youtube.

Who gives a shit? It's over, it's done, he's a Dolphin, and our management has decisions to make.

He was here 5 years. We had one top ranked defense in that top and whole bunch of bottom 10 defenses.

One player, even one as good a Suh, doesn't make a team. And we move on.

And for all the people predicting how dominant Miami's line will be, don't forget they have had talks about trading Dion Jordan, Cameron Wake, and Odrick is a free agent not returning.

Let's see what he's on the line with in Miami before we crown it the greatest line ever. And let's see what the Lions do from here. Either way, Suh didn't make or break this team, good years or bad, and this team is not going to the shitter just because he's not here.

There's a whole bunch of other reasons this team may go to the shitter, but that won't be THE reason.

When healthy, he's still a very good dt. Definitely worth 1/2 of what Suh is about to be paid. I say sign him. If he stays healthy, it'll certainly soften the blow of losing Suh. I just hope that if he comes in at 285-295 to spring training again, they don't force him to add 15-20 lbs. Let him play at a lower weight

Mosely played like 30 percent of the defensive snaps Suh 81. You'd need to do all that plus sign 3 Mosleys.

102 million is fair offer.

12 million more plus 5 million and get to live in Miami. That I understand
more than one way for a top 5 defense. Suh was just easiest way to get it.

Time for mayhew to work his free agent magic again

I agree. The fact that we made an offer that is more than what J.J. Watt makes blows my mind. And once again, I hope Miami is a mess for years to come, because Suh deserves that.

Well, do you trust fairley? Not his weight or his health. Mosley is a good backup and usable as a starter until a good replacement is available.

Easy guys, getting a but testy here for absolutely no good reason.

First, it can be argued by the other 31 teams that a player who signed a contract was overpaid by the 32nd team.

Second, Suh didn't win the Lions a Super Bowl, so no...he isn't worth the money.

Third, none of us have any say in what the Lions do.

Some seem to be taking things a little to personal on both sides. Just let it play out, it isn't worth the arguing.

I disagree. I think he's worth the money. I don't think we could have ever paid it.

I don't think his leaving wrecks the team. I don't think his arrival in Miami even remotely assures a top defense, especially if they end up trading either Jordan or Wake.. or both.

Mayhew was under pressure to turn around the first 0-16 team. That said, he made some decisions doing it that brought us two playoff appearances, and left the finances is some sketchy straights.

And now we have $18MM roughly to spend. That's an above average DT, maybe two, and some more pieces.

I hate seeing Suh go. I wish the man all the luck in the world. He'll be a great player in Miami... but this is a Detroit sports board, and I prefer to put my "give a damn" into Detroit players and teams.

Good luck Suh, we all enjoyed watching you dominate... hope we beat you in the SuperBowl.

We offered him 17 per. We have a good amount of cap space. The cap is fine.

We just didn't want or feel we needed to over pay greatly for suh.

More than on way to have a top five defense. All the we can't have three big contracts guys should be happy. We can build the team how you wanted now. With three or so good second tier free agents and a draft.

Miami is more desirable to live in than detroit. Can't fault mayhew for the city and suburbs and climate of detroit

Well if ever there was a time to switch to a 3-4 it is now. I've always preferred the 4-3, but if that's what they want to do, so be it. They have the Lbs and the DL is always trickiest part of the changeover IMO.

However it plays out, we will still be fans and have hooe regardless of obvious Reasons to have doubt.
