Mortensen reporting Suh to Dolphins

You want to know what's funny?? That the retards on this board actually think we're going into the season with one DT on the roster. Most of you wanted nothing to do giving Suh big money. Most of you wanted nothing to do with the often injured Fairley. Mosely and Fluellen are backups!!! Free agency isn't over and the draft is right around the corner. STFU. Did I want Suh gone? Not a chance, but the Lions offered him huge money. He chose to go to a lesser talented team that doesn't have a fkn prayer in their division. lol. He cares about money and money only.....oh well.

Right..I get the griping over the restructures..but I'm glad we didn't give him that much. It's way too much.

Yep. And everyone goes back to "look at JJ Watt, his deal was redone". Newsflash!!! Watt wanted to stay in Houston. Suh NEVER wanted to come to Detroit from day one. Painfully obvious now lol. You don't think the Lions approached Suh a couple of years ago and asked him to redo his deal?? I guarantee they did. He told them to fuck off, but in order to get FAs here, they had to restructure and they're paying for it now.

Gotta love Tony. The Lions can do no wrong. I thought you broke your neck when you did that 180 after we drafted Ebron. Good to see you fully healed.

Never said that, dummy. Read before you run your mouth. I said the Lions dropped the ball, but its not the end of the world. You're a fkn imbecile if you think they're going into the season with one DT on the roster. Does it matter with you clowns anyways? Suh stays, we paid too much. Suh leaves, Mayhew is a joke for dropping that money and crippling the organization. Fairley is a liability, yet you think the organization thinks he's the saviour?? For fuck sakes you need football 101. I wanted Suh to stay....they tried....he said no. Indy wants to overpay for Fairley but we're the joke? Mosely and Flu are replaceable.....chill.

Free agency and draft coming up. Trust Austin. I will

Quick dose of reality for everyone....

ONE report has the Colts "Outbidding everyone by a wide margin" on Fairley. ONE. That same report has been used as a sole "source" for a few other sports blogs.

Amazingly every credible rumor over the weekend (Suh to the Dolphins, Maclin to the Chiefs, Gore to the Eagles) has been reported by MULTIPLE news outlets.

Not saying the Colts aren't in on Fairley, and not saying they won't stupidly overpay... but until I see something more credible than Bleacher Report, the worst rumor mill ever in the history of history, I am not buying in.

Has anyone ever found anything that broke on Bleacher Report that turned out to be true?

Bleacher Report is terrible.

And every report on Fairley I can find reads like this one...

"Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday, and reportedly, the Colts are outbidding the competition by a wide margin.

According to Bleacher Report's Ian Wharton, the Colts are offering twice as much guaranteed money as any other team."

It's all coming from Bleacher Report.

Good luck to Suh. Unlike some fans, I won't hold a grudge against him for taking more money.

Now we just have to hope Mayhew can actually use that freed up money wisely,

Nobody from the 2010 draft left.

Btw, I can already see this as an excuse if the Lions don't return to the playoffs. "Rebuilding from the loss of Suh".

That's because you have a losers mentality.....I doubt anyone on this board had even thought that except you.

I don't blame him one bit for taking more money. If I were him I would go to Miami too...hell, even if the money was the same I would go to Miami because 1) FL has no state income tax and 2) I would much rather spend Sept-Jan in Maimi vs. Detroit.

I don't wish Suh good luck...not because he left Detroit but because I never liked him or respected him because he is a dirty player.

This. Thanks for saving me from typing it. I feel like this exactly.

Moving on. They need to decide 3-4 or 4-3 and get the right replacements in here.

At $60MM guaranteed, he has set a new record for a contract. Aaron Rodgers was only given $54MM guaranteed.

The only players in the entire league with a higher contract value are Cutler and Flacco. Hope Suh works out better in Miami than those two have for their teams. Flacco has not been bad, but he definitely has not played like a $120MM player.

How so? I firmly believe the Lions have a chance make up for Suh this offseason, they can soften the blow of losing Suh with smart drafting and wise FA signings (not necessarily big target FAs, but multiple solid starters/roleplayers). I remain optimistic, despite the loss of Suh, but I also realize the loss of Suh won't be the main reason if the team sucks next season. This isn't the past, it's not like the defense is void of talent and Suh was the only thing keeping it respectable. Mayhew has an opportunity this offseason, whether he takes advantage of it or pisses it away remains to be seen.

And I wasn't really referring to anyone on the board, most people here are intelligent and realistic and wouldn't make ridiculous excuses for this team. I'm talking about the average delusional idiot fans, the ones who think the team is good every year and often try pointing out every external factor when the team fails.

Losing Suh is a quick/cheap/easy excuse, I hate those and I hate fans that use them.

Even if we don't replace Suh well, we could still have a mediocre good enough defense with the remaining talent and Austin's scheme. This offense can explode into a top 5 offense. More than one way to win. But if Mayhew hits in FA and draft, top 10 defense not out of the question.

All the people who wanted cap space got their wish.
