My way too early yardage prediction thread

I don't blame 2013 solely on bad luck and injuries. That's an incredibly false statement that you guys have exaggerated and believe from these arguments. But it did play somewhat of a fact and it can be in the Lions favor in 2014.

This the NFC the way it is, I would not be surprised if the lions finished 7-9 to 11-5.

In the North GB has the best QB so I put them as the favorite. Chicago and Detroit aren't to far off. The lions are going after the division or are competing with a large group of teams for the #2 wildcard (Seattle or 49ers will take one of them)

Let's say

West:Seattle
South:saints
East:eagles
North:GB
WC1:49ers

That leaves Det, Car, Chi, Dal, NYG, ATL all competing for one position.

Not to mention this is the NFL so some random ass team is going to be much better than they are projected. Lions are not clearly better than any of those teams.

Agreed. Carolina is clearly better than Detroit. Chicago is about the same. Atlanta and the Giants are due to bounce back. If those teams are the ones competing for the last WC spot, Lions aren't getting it.

Dallas 8-8 come on.

Carolina tough schedule. AFC North (2-2), NFC South (3-3) and NFC North. at Philly and Seattle at home. 7-8 losses for sure.

Chicago, Detroit swept them last year and they always have trouble with GB. Say a split this year wiht Det/Chi. 3-3 in division for them losing both to GB. Lose at Pats, lose at San Fran, lose at Carolina and lose to Saints. That's 9-7 for them.

Falcons and Giants could rebound. But 3-3 in their divisions would help Detroit. Giants won't run the table on the NFC East. And Giants play entire NFC West. Falcons have Carolina and Saints to deal with.

If Detroit is 10-6 or 11-5 they probably don't have to worry. Just handle their own business. Split Chi/GB, lose at Carolina, at Pats and home to Saints. Beat everyone else. 6th loss at Arizona if you only think 10 wins for Detroit. And they could win any of those games still especially if GB is resting since you guys think they are far and away taking this division.

Giants, at Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Bucs, sweep Vikings, beat Chi/GB at home and Falcons in London. Basically it comes down to Giants and Falcons game. And Giants play the Falcons. So one of them gets an extra loss.

You cannot determine how tough a schedule is at this point. Teams expected to be good falter, teams expected to be crap step up.

Did you see the part where I said chicago and Detroit aren't to far off and the other part where I said the lions are competiting both their division or the #2 WC? How did you take that as GB being far and away better?

I think their best bet is to take care of work and win their division, that is the easiest way to the playoffs. If they are going for a wild card there is a lot of stiff competition.

I can expect Giants to go 3-3 division, 1-3 against NFC West, lose to Detroit and lose to Indy. That's 8-8 beating Falcons. Pretty logical.

There's no logic to that whatsoever. It's just a guess. Again, you or anyone has no idea which teams are going to be better than you think, and which teams are going to be crap.

I do have a good idea because I know all the teams talent. But the main thing is Lions should win 10 to 11 games. So that is good enough for a wildcard berth and battle for division title.

If Pack lose at Seattle and at Saints, to Philly and go 4-2 in division, Lions got a good shot. That's 11-5 for them.

Did you expect KC to go 11-5 after going 2-14 the prior year? If you say yes, you are a damned liar, because no one did. That's what happens in the NFL.

I don't care about the AFC. The AFC is junk and KC had a good defense and clearly just needed a decent QB. They are a good home team. Clearly they were better than 2-14 with a QB.

KC played NFC East. They went 4-0 probably would have said 2-2 winning both at home.
at Bills and Cle, yes KC win
AFC South 3-1. Yes
Swept Raiders but got swept by Chargers/Broncos. I would have said 3-3

So 10-6 would have been my guess going by the logic I use. Got two extra wins over NFC East but one less against division. Maybe 9-7 before Houston's demise. The game was in KC though so I probably say KC.

Lions probably go 3-3 in the division...maybe 4-2.
Likely wins are Buffalo, Miami.
Should go 3-1 or 2-2 vs NYG, @ Jets, @ Atl, vs. TB.
Likely losses are @ car, @ AZ, @ NE, vs. N.O.

Looks like 7 to 9 wins to me.

Okay, did you expect Atlanta to go 4-12 after going 13-3?

They are better than 4-12 but more in the middle.
3-3 division I usually say in tough divisions. They went 1-5 there.
Would have said 3-1 against AFC East but they went 1-3.
1-3 against NFC West. Yes went 1-3.

Beat Wash and lose to GB yes. That happened 1-1

Would have said 8-8 but they sucked in division and somehow lost to Miami/Jets.

4-2 division. sweep Vikings, split Gb/Chi
4-0 against Giants, at Jets, at Falcons, Tampa. You all said youself it was a choke job against Giants/Tampa last year. Come on it's the Jets with Smith or Vick. And at Falcons at neutral site and they still have big D issues.
Beat Mia/Buffalo. 2-0

Thats 10 wins. 11 if we win at Zona but that's tough.

And really I'm not scared at Carolina either.
Major Oline issues for them and secondary can be exposed and who the hell covers Calvin for them. Newton throwing picks like crazy can return. No Steve Smith.

Lions Oline better bring it that day though against Carolina front 7. And Lions have the run D to stop Williams and Newton.

right...it was a choke job. Stafford and Bush are still on the team...I expect the Lions to choke away at least 2 games this season. That would be down from 4 last season.

Detroit is more talented than Carolina, Atlanta and Giants. And slightly more than Chicago and way more than Dallas. I know Carolina had a big year but losing Gross, Captain and Steve Smith is huge losses.
