My way too early yardage prediction thread

well, Allen had 11.5 sacks last year...more than both Lion's starting DE's combined. He may regress but he may not.

And Mathis had the 6th lowest completion rate in the entire league. He may regress, he may not.

And based on hits and hurries and sacks, Allen did regress. He was average per PFF with a +.8 grade. The regression has begun for Allen. Mathis got better from 2012 to 2013. This may be due to a year removed from injury for Mathis.

I think you typically see CBs fall off a cliff faster than linemen but we don't know what will happen in the future.

Depends how smart they are. Mathis did well at 32, we'll see at 33. KVB fell off a cliff pretty damn fast. Allen appears to be regressing already.

Slay may or may not be able to get picks. That's just a pure guess.

Mathis USED to be able to get picks. 2 in the last 4 years. Not good.

I'm not asking for gamblers. I'm asking for guys who can impact the game in the secondary. They can't. You've said as much that the Lions can have an "average" secondary if they stay healthy. That's not what it takes to win football games.

With the rest of this team, yes average secondary is all it takes. But I think they will be above average to good in pass defense. Don't confuse me saying average is all it takes means that's how I think they will do. I think they just need to be average but they'll probably be above average or good is my expectation for them even though we just need average.

The Lions CBS in total can get 4 picks. Very possible. More probable than 3 or less.

Again, you are the master spin doctor. Statiscally, they are below average even when healthy. You will see this year. It will be an issue. No one fears any of our Corners or safties. They will be exposed right out of the gate for what they are.. below average

You mean to go with our average defensive line and average LB core..? Match made in heaven..and average RB and less than average QB. Swell..

Jesus. Gonna get exposed? Slay finished off the season strong, Greenwood and Green saw limited pt but when they did they handled their own. You guys need to show a little faith. The only corner I see getting beat up is Mathis, and him getting replaced by one of the younger guys.

Greenwood hasn't gotten over his belly button ring infection in 3 years and has been cut by 2 teams. What the fuck makes people keep saying his name in regards to a reason why we will be improved in tge secondary? Hes shit...he will always be shit...

Show Faith in those clowns? Remember, this is the Lions. When have they ever given us a reason to believe in them? Why? Cause LKP said so? 2 years ago when they made the playoffs for the first time in God knows when and then get blown off the field in the second half against the Saints? Or last year folding like idiots when the division was darn near given to them? The best thing that ever happens to them in the off-season is the draft. .. hopes are high and we start to dream a little and then their below average, under prepared, undisciplined highly paid ass' s lay a big streaming turd on the rubber astroturf. Get a clue... no better, go buy season tickets and enjoy.

The belly button ring infection is classic. I fuckimg love that reference.

The best Lions are always the ones that have never played. We went through half a decade where Fox was a cheesecake lockdown OT.

By the way, in that magical 2011 season, the Lions didn't beat a single team that ended up with above a .500 record. Just to bring things back to reality.

LOL....yet you've posted over a thousand messages on their board in this forum.

Why call yourself a fan then? There are 31 other teams to choose from.

Don't worry, nobody here will miss you.

You win. I'm just an angry fan. The truth hurts don't it. I'm 50 years old and have been watching this crap for all of them.

I know I would not be missed. I never thought that much of myself as a poster to think other wise. However, I do get birthday presents from other members. Lol

welcome back jdeb!

Jdeb I'm with you. I don't know why being pessimistic means you aren't a fan. I used to be that way. When they drafted WRs 9 years in a row, kept building that offense, I was on board. I was a slappy, loved everything they did because the franchise could do no wrong in my eyes. That all ended for me when I finally came to the realization it's just a rat that can't find his way through the maze. I see teams every year that were crap the prior year turn it around in a hurry. Parody exists in the league, but the Lions can't seem to find it.

Basically saying Ihedigbo is durable says "at least he's a body out there." The guy has had one good year in his career.

So what? I think he's been a backup pretty much his own career. He finally had a chance to start and he's played pretty well. Why not have faith? He's not the final answer, but he's a seasoned vet teamed up with another vet in Quin. These 2 guys can teach our young secondary the ins and outs. Sprinkle in some wisdom from Mathis, hopefully a big jump from Slay and some patchwork fixed. That's what i'm hoping for!! We all know the secondary is the weakest link, but if Austin can get something out of these guys, things can start looking up. 1 or 2 more guys away in that secondary.....

Now you smart fellers will read this post and realize that i'm not talking up the secondary to be the Seahawks. I'm just showing a little faith because, trust me, this unit scares me lol, but i think they can be a quick fix with a little luck and some timely plays.
Now you dumb ones....and you know who you are.....will read this and say i'm a homer, guzzling the koolaid! Read again....maybe you'll get it the 2nd time ;)

That's why our DLinemen and LBs have to play out of their skulls.

Just because you're a miserable puke when it comes to the Lions, that means we all have to be?? lol. I have faith every year. I get excited about the new year. I want to see a winner. You? You've already cashed your fn chips in! lol. Why bother talking shop then? Why stay on this board if you have zero fn faith? It makes no fn sense to me....ever. You think you're doing a standup thing by not purchasing tickets to Lions games? Making a stand?? lmfao. What a joke! Season ticket holder with my old man the last 5 years and damn proud of it!! I cheer for my team every Sunday like a true fan. I don't boycott them!! So, pat yourself on the back for turning your back on them. That's pathetic! I'll never understand "fans" like you. Weak.

Being pessimistic and flat out giving up on a team are two different things. I have no problem with criticising a player(s), but to come out and basically say "fuck these guys". Why? Why do that to yourself? Why put yourself through the agony of even watching/reading/listening about the Lions. To me?! That's torture. I love my Lions and i go to every home game with a swagger....i enjoy it. I don't go into Ford Field with my head down, kicking the can because i know my team is going to lose. That's the losers way out and it's a soft way of thinking.
