Next Lions Coach

I get that feeling where Shorts stays but fires the QB coach only..

I want Gruden.

I think a great story would be Marty Schottenheimer coming out of retirement and leading the Lions to a Super Bowl victory. Redemption for Marty. I know it won't happen nor could it(I've resigned to the fact we will never win a Super Bowl) but it would be a great story.

I have wanted Marty as a coach for probably more than a decade. I think he is one of those guys that focuses on fundamentals and that guys play their asses off for. This is a situation he could finally take over a talented team and take them to higher heights unlike his past where he took shitty teams to the playoffs. I dont know if his game works in today's NFL but think it would be interesting to see.

My fav's are
Gruden, Cowher, Dungy and Dark horse David Shaw from Stanford..

But really bozo the clown could coach better the Jim and his staff
because we probably have zero shot at any of those guys..

I think the first three have great resumes but I dont see them leaving tv and coming back to coach. It takes way to much dedication and they have probably all gotten over it with their success. Cowher and Dungy would be the ones I would want the most because in all seriousness Gruden won with Dungy's team in tampa and a defense he had nothing to do with. Dungy has built two long lasting high performing franchises. And Cowher built a dominant franchise for more than a decade. His steelers teams were always in the hunt and he took over a talented bunch in the 90's and retooled in the 2000's. Something to be said for knowing how to do it.

I just cannot believe Jim has not been broken off yet.. I have a bad feeling about this.

Is it sad that I can't go to sleep right now waiting for Schwartz to be fired? It's like Christmas! I was for giving him this year as a last chance but the more I've watched this team collapse I've really soured on him. It'd be tough to stomach another year of this.

Todd Downing

I don't know what he does, if he even does anything

I was mostly kidding but literally I have never seen him talking to staff on the sidelines. Also clearly his message is throw of your back foot so...fuck him.

I hear you but I could care less if I coach did it with other coaches players.. It could be said that Dungy just could not get TB over the top...Gruden did.. I like him because he is the youngest..Dungy had Manning and only won 1 super Bowl and had a great GM..
But Cowher would really whip this team into shape..

Shaw has Michigan roots... I think he could be a good NFL coach... probably not who the Lions would take...Just thinking out of the box..

I thought we did but maybe not..

Come on stupid Ford's. Do I remain a fan? What the fk it's taking so long.

If the Ford's had their mind made up he'd be gone already. Come on..

If they are afraid to eat that 12 mil they should just sell this fucking team. It takes balls to win and by spending some cash and making some moves they could earn that money back ten fold. If I was in their shows I would certainly want to not piss away money but I would also have not let this team be a doormat of disappointment for 50+ years. At some point you gotta get something right.

I like Shaw a lot and think his style translates well. I hope we go after a guy like that. I dont disagree with Dungy only winning 1 being a mark on him but to be fair I am not convinced that team was really that complete. They never had a good secondary and were forced into being 1 dimensional. Dungy made that defense competitive which is saying something given his pieces and the offense was forced to be qb centric with no semblance of a running game post Edge. Polian gets way to much credit because it was all about Dungy and Manning making it work. They drafted for shit and made mediocre players play above their level.

I wish Dick LeBeau was younger... Detroit roots...Hard nosed. I would give him a shot if he was 15 years younger.. Just shows how stupid the Ford's are for not bring a HOF player back into the fold..

Johnny Unitas always had respect for him, stating, "Dick is a good corner. I am just glad Night Train Lane is gone."

LOL
