Ngata Hurt

Stafford gets us out of many 3rd and longs. And he hasnt been getting any short fields. One that started in opponent territory all year. He is a stud

The defense can improve with health. Certain players have proven they can play better. We will see if they turn around. They did in 2015 after 8 games (17.6 ppg in last 8). Lets see if they can after 6 gameson defense in 2016. Ansah revving up the pass rush is needed

There is value in keeping stafford at 20 million. Top 5 qb play value right now. Plus even at 20 million for stafford, lions have ample cap room. Zero reason to let him go to gain cap room. None

Some of you just love to hate the kid. This is might be an 0-6 team with ANYBODY besides Stafford. I'm right there with Booger, top 5 qb, and in the final 2 minutes of a game, needing a touchdown, he is my guy by a wide margin. Embrace this and let Quin attempt to build around him, the right way.

So you are saying we are the worst team in the league overall and Stafford is the only thing that makes us not the worst team in the league?

Dont recall saying any of that. Youre reading comprehension is just awful....you take one little tidbit of an enormous reply and focus on that detail. When the fuck did i say nfl teams should hold out for 4th round qbs? I was showing that theres little to no vaule in keeping stafford around at 20+ mil a year if were only going to win 4 games. What the fuck do you read man?

My reading comprehension is just fine, man lol.
Why do you keep bringing up Dak or Carr? You do realize they're going to get paid, right? Your whole gripe is about money, right? So teams should just go after later rd picks and save them some money. That's pretty much your solution. You want teams like Oakland to get rid of Carr because of money. You want Stafford gone....why? Money. That's not the way the NFL works. If you can play, you get paid. Bottomline!!

33 tds and 6 ints in the last 14 games with cooter. That is mvp type play elite. And 4 of 6 ints not his fault

Stafford deserves over 20 million per

Damn it, I wish when you blocked someone it also blocked anyone's reply to that person.

LKP is wrong saying 8th YPA = no dink and dunk. Stafford gets a higher % of his yards from YAC than anyone else in the league right now. Also has the 3rd shortest Air yards per throw at 3.44

Now this isn't a bad thing, Matt was never successful when he was asked to make deep throws. Hes doing a good job making quick reads & getting the ball out of his hands quickly. That's a good thing. Easier the throw the better we are.

I've been trying to stay off this board for awhile but things have changed in the NFL regards to QB's.. It's not what it used to be where your rook QB is throwing 20+ INT. Regardless where Matt S. is at the moment.. save some money, draft a 2nd or 3rd round QB and put his money on defense. Become the Vikings. I don't care about QB play anymore..

Get a game manager that's smart and get the defense up about 8 notches. This team hasn't changed, they beat Philly and yet lose to Tenn. and Chicago. Same ole same ole.

The NFL is all about QB's.....almost every good team has an elite, highly paid qb, with plenty of money left to build a team.

Brady
Rodgers
Ruthlessraper
Wilson
Ryan
Luck

You use Minnesota as an example.....but that team hasn't won a thing yet. I don't think its ever a good idea to let a very good player go unless you already have an equal or greater option ready to go.

We don't.

Also, for those people complaining......Matthew Stafford is the 20th highest paid NFL QB for 2016.....he makes $166,000 more than Sam Bradford......the Vikings QB.....who is 21st.

Minnesota used a 1st on bridgewater and a 1st to get bradford. 17 mil cap hit for bradford next year. Min is a bad example on not spending resources on qbs

I know......it's almost as if he isn't blocked. So many people respond to his idiotic rants I probably end up seeing 3/4 of what he posts.

Lions can extend stafford and have the cap space to build the defense. And have all their draft picks. Not wasting a 2nd,3rd or 4th on another qb

3rd or 4th on backup is possible. Dan o is terrible

For those that don't want to watch the video:

“Matt Stafford is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL – he might be the best quarterback in the entire NFL,” said Peter Schrager on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show.

Schrager pointed out that Stafford has succeeded despite playing behind one of the youngest offensive lines in the league. What’s more, he has stepped up with the Lions’ top three running backs on the shelf.

Ameer Adbullah, Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington have been out for almost every minute of the last two games, during which time Stafford has thrown seven touchdowns, zero interceptions and lifted the Lions to back-to-back victories.

“Right now, winners of two straight going into that Washington (Redskins) game, Matt Stafford is carrying that team on his back,” Schrager said.

Since Jim Bob Cooter took over as Detroit’s offensive coordinator in Week 10 of the 2015 season, Stafford has excelled. He has 33 touchdowns to just six interceptions over the span, the best ratio in the league.

“I think Stafford, he has something about him. The top prospect coming out of high school, the top pick in the draft coming out of Georgia and now I think he could be the top quarterback in football,” Schrager said.

Oh.......you bout to blow up this board with that talk!!

Just sharing a national sportswriter's opinion! But you're probably right.

I tend to lean more pessimistic than most when it comes to the Lions but Stafford doesn't even crack the top ten of problems with this team. But as we all know, QB for the Lions and goaltender for the Red Wings are the two most thankless positions in all of Detroit sports. It is what it is.

WTF I love Stafford now! Seriously though if Stafford keeps playing the way he did the last Sunday and the first Sunday I think you can go ahead and call him elite.

The 2nd and 4th Sunday? I don't think elite QBs lead their team to 16-15 and 17-14 losses to the Titans and Bears. Literally two of the worst teams in the league.

Defenses fault we only scored 15 points....duh.

It wasnt staffords. It was the weapons. And refs for the ebron opi call

But defenses can allow long drives which takes time away from the offense

You can't call anyone elite until they do it over an extended period of time and show in the playoffs (when it matters) that they can be successful. Stafford's done neither. He's had a great 6 games this season, and a great 2nd half last season. Which, by the way, don't combine to make a full season which some posters seem to have a habit of doing with him.

He has the potential to be elite, but he's not yet.
